I used plexus slim and it gave me amazing results. I had to quit taking it though because it was making me feel weird. I'm just wondering if anyone can give me reviews on advocare and shakeology. Please don't talk to me about diet and exercise. I do that too, but just have a lot more luck with some help! Thanks

What can I do next?

I think you have already discovered a key problem in many products - one makes you feel "weird" which means there's some sort of upset in your body balance, or excessive stimulation of the central nervous system. These are red flags.

I read the 2 responses below, and I agree with some things and not with others. I do agree that absorbable nutrition is critical - doesn't matter what you swallow, it matters what you absorb. I also agree that liquid nutrition (powder mixed in liquid) is far superior to vitamin pills (extremely low absorption rate) or premixed liquids (which degrade on the shelf, usually). I agree that science, not profits, has to be behind the design of the products. I agree that nutrition needs to be an overall lifestyle choice and not a "quick diet" approach, and that products that satisfy your cravings and nutritional needs are the best.

I disagree that endorsements mean anything if they are from a celebrity spokesperson who is paid - that means money goes to people, not science. I disagree that picking and choosing different vitamin packages is a good way to approach health! Every cell in the body needs the same nutrition every day, whether it's a nerve cell or a muscle cell or a skin cell. That was proven over 45 years ago. Companies that make you think you should choose this vitamin combination over that one are either on the wrong track, or interested in profits by selling you more options. First of all, vitamins and minerals don't work at optimum levels if they are not fully complemented by all the other nutrients needed! They are just eliminated - waste of money and potentially dangerous because megadosing and overdosing are possible. Secondly, the consumer doesn't have the expertise to determine what she needs, and should not be in the position of playing "kitchen chemist" to mix and match nutrients. I also disagree strongly with the idea of a short-term cleanse! It's a huge stress on the body, and once it's done, then what? You go back to not having ingredients fully absorbed? Yes, preparation is important but it should be ongoing and much more gentle than a 2 or 3 or 4 week program. Food science is very well documented on that.

In my professional opinion, we should start with a balanced, comprehensive supplement. If you want to do meal replacement for one meal a day, that can be done. Or you can use your regular food and just supplement. Beyond that, if you have a specific need, there can be a role for functional formulas (e.g. joint health, women's issues, muscle repair & recovery) BUT those formulas must be designed to work both independently and with the comprehensive formula.

I'd recommend the following: patented products (safety, efficacy and uniqueness proven- and the patent should be on the formula not just an ingredient or two); clinical studies before and after, conducted independently; certificates of analysis for every ingredient before manufacture; FDA Good Manufacturing Practices award (for supplements which are not categorized as drugs but rather food and therefore "FDA Approval" doesn't apply); top Chief Scientific Officer highly rated among national surveys of CSOs; membership in Council for Responsible Nutrition; a company that has never had a legal claim against it; money-back guarantee; a nutritional consultant assigned to you (for free) and access to the CSOs staff/department by email or phone; if a direct sales company, membership in (and a seat on the Board, at least on a rotating basis) of the Direct Selling Association (an invitation-only watchdog group for the direct marketing industry).

Finally, I'd look to cutting edge nutrients - does the products contain lunasin, the only dietary agent proven to affect gene expression (the proper switching on and off of genes within each cell - featured on Dr. Oz, Time magazine cover, scores of scientific journals) and also associated with cholesterol reduction, anti-cancer properties, immune system support, and (important for you) satiety! If your nutritional levels are met (which just can't happen with today's food supply) AND you feel full because enough lunasin supports the 2 hormones that make you feel satisfied, you'll naturally eat less. There are a number of companies that provide junk lunasin, but you want bioactive (survives digestion) and concentrated lunasin from non-GMO plants. There's only one company that has been awarded the rights to this, and which also has the patent on the mechanical extraction of the lunasin from the plant (chemical extraction is one reason we're in the nutritional mess we're in now!).

Buying from a store shelf can be a problem - no follow-up from the company, and so many layers of distribution centers and food brokers who jack up the price but provide nothing to the consume in the way of services. Don't be fooled by "health food stores" - their products are made all over the world and not always to high standards, and they make their money by selling you bottles and bottles of different things and asking you to mix and match yourself. Direct sales is preferred IF you aren't forced to buy things you don't need, if there's no pressure to bring in others, if there's a one-year buyback, and if there is DSA membership (which covers the "evils" that turn people off to network marketing. But network marketing takes out the profits of middlemen, usually doesn't throw a lot of money into advertising and celebrity endorsements (which jack up the price), and rely on good service for continuing customers.

Let me know if you want more specific recommendations, and what else you are interested in besides weight loss. Then I can be more specific.

1. My cousin, Lacy, lost 118 lbs in 11 months on Omninutrition. I've never taken them and don't know a dang thing other than her weight loss. She does sell the products now and I'm sure she'd be happy to advise. Here's a link to one of her pics, which shows her journey in photos. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10151968979861028#!/...

2. Diane sells vitamins or supplements or something. She never comes right out and says it, but I figured that SOMEONE should. Diane, why don't you just say, "Hey, I sell these things and know a lot about them so feel free to message me if you want to," instead of acting like you're not waiting for a PM so you can try to sell them? I don't get it.

I do not know anything about shakeology but I have been taking AdvoCare for a couple years now. AdvoCare is not a diet, it is about supplementing your life to meet your individual needs. The products are backed by a science and medical advisory board that would be hard to top their expertise. Their products are backed by Informed Choice so they have to meet stringent requirements for competitive athletes. The endorsement page is full of well-known professional athletes who are currently competing. This points to the safety and quality of what you are getting and they are science-based. The company has been around for 20 yrs.

Now about results. I lost the extra fat I was carrying on the 24-Day Challenge, along with good eating and exercise. Starting with a mild herbal cleanse spread over 10 days, it prepares your body for maximum absorption of healthy nutrients. Spark is the nutritionally advanced energy drink that helps sharpen your focus. For the next 14 days, I used the Meal Replacement Shake - a healthy meal replacement for one meal a day with the ideal proportion of protein and fiber. And it tastes great (chocolate, choc. mocha, or berry). Only order the vanilla if you are planning on adding fruit or something to it. You also take the vitamins and minerals that come in presorted packets with 3 choices: more energy, more appetite control, or overall wellness. Also included is OmegaPlex - a great source of omega-3's that are the best quality you can get (won't end up in the toilet, be spoiled, or offer less than it says on the bottle, etc. as with other brands).

To boost your results if doing the 24-Day Challenge, Catalyst is a great supplement that maintains your muscle mass and energy levels when you reduce your calories. Carb-Ease are the pills you can use if you have to eat at someone's house and you don't want to tell them you can't eat their unhealthy food. It inhibits the absorption of carbs and fats. It's also good if you would like to have a piece of pie once in a while.

After the 24-Day Challenge, I just maintain with the vitamins and minerals, along with Catalyst (because I workout) and Carb-Ease (before unhealthy meals). Spark is good to replace your unhealthy caffeine and give you sharper focus.

If you train at a high level, the Performance Elite products are superior. If you are interested, I can check with my son-in-law who plays in the NFL, to see what is best for your type of workout.

You don't want to put something in your body that may be questionable. You can be sure that AdvoCare is top quality and you are getting your money's worth.

If you plan to use the products faithfully, I can show you how to get the products at a discount. It is not one of those schemes that try and get you to sign up to make a portion of the sign-up fee. If you sign up, it is for a discount and the person that signs you up does not get anything for you signing up. AdvoCare only sends you what you want, when you want it - NO autoship where the products keep coming. People keep ordering AdvoCare because they like it and it works.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I was drinking shakeology for awhile. I did not lose weight (I think I gained weight). It does taste good especially if you add peanut butter and banana to the chocolate.

The women I know who look amazing that drink it, usually are doing the intense workouts too like P90X or similar.

The negative: I had major diarrhea after drinking it.

I am doing the advocare 24 day challenge right now. I'm on day 14. When I was on day 10 I had lost 5 pounds. I don't know how much I have lost now. Maybe 6? The hardest part for me was cutting out dairy. I'm also a soda drinker and I have only had 1 soda this whole time. I still do crave it a little, but it's no where near as bad as it was. I really like the spark energy drink.

Nothing gets weight off and keeps it off in a healthy way except nutrition that absorbs. My husband has lost 148 pounds by taking a multivitamin that the company guarantees to absorb. Others don't and cause free radicals. The cool thing is he has kept it off...not by dieting, simply by being wiser.

These programs that are designed to get weight off do " make you feel weird" because it's not what the body needs. I'll be glad to give you details if you're interested in going this route. I just know that my husband had been up and down with his weight his entire life until I got him healthy!

Regards,
M.
