Hi Moms,
We are adding a family room to our home and my husband wants to make it "log cabin" like. I don't want dead animals hanging in my home so any ideas or on-line stores would be appreciated.
Thanks!

What can I do next?

oh, design, one of my favorite things that I blog about!

I'm doing a blog post on this later this week, so check back in a few days and I will have an inspiration board for you.

but for now, I would check out decor8 and etsy has some great designers as well.

Go with foix bois accents, perhaps some woodland creature figurines, birch wrapped candles, light sage green or rice paper colored paint...

Since this is a family room, and not a "man cave" you can still go with darker wood pieces, like a nice heavy rocking chair, leather ottoman and such, a rich quilt with flannel pieces, iron scones... but keep it light and airy with cream pillows, drapes, artwork, rug or throw.

Walk into an Abercrombie & Fitch and check out the rugs and furniture.

cote de texas is the authority on design, so I would search her blog for 'rustic' or 'cabin' features.

my sister in law did my nephew's room that way. she made the comforter and curtains to match using a white and hunter green checked material. the walls were made to look like logs.

go to any western wear store they ususally have western decor too. or go to ebay and type western decor. I agree with cabellas and bass pro shops. tractor supply has metal decor. I think atwoods does too. or on ebay type in rustic.

My uncle did this to his rec room downstairs.
He got the faux log paneling for 3 walls and the closet was set up like an outhouse.
He had a mural on the 4th wall with a mountain/woods scene.
He took wallpaper like birch trees and covered the supporting poles and then hung a hamock between them.
He had a small Franklin stove instead of the a fireplace. He used green carpet with brown specs in it.
THe furniture was the rustic cedar whole log chairs, his tv is a flatscreen mounted into the wall surrounded by paneling.
No dead animals.
