Brown Blood at 11 Weeks

So last week I had bright red blood but when I had an US the doctors said everything was fine and that I still had a heart beat. Now the last week I have had no bleeding at all but when I woke up this morning I had brown stuff every time I wipe. Do you think I could be having a miscarriage? Has anyone else had this happen? The brown stuff is clearing up and getting lighter but I am still uncertain. I have had a miscarriage before back in March of 2009 but I am worried that it could be happening again. Please help!

What can I do next?

Brown blood means it is old blood. when it is bright red and more like a menstral cycle then you need to worry. I think you and the baby are fine. I had a miscarriage before and it sounds like you are not having one.

Brown blood is old blood thats finally coming out. I wouldn't worry unless your cramping or having bright red blood. good luck

Definitely let your doctor know. But like Jen B. said, brown blood is old blood and probably nothing to worry about.

I would certainly call your doctor and they'll probably have you come in for an exam or sonogram. For your own peace of mind though, I had spotting with my first pregnancy, for the first 4 months or so and I noticed that my spotting would happen when I would have had a monthly period (had I not been pregnant). My spotting was always brown, just like you're mentioning. I read in one of my prego books that brown spotting is old blood. Red is new blood. Brown is good because it's been up there a while and is just now emerging. I did not have a miscarriage. Still, call your doctor, as they'll be able to tell you (hopefully) what's really going on and check you out to be sure.

Like everyone else said, brown is old blood. I know it's still hard not to worry. I had that and i called the nurse and she just asked if i was having cramps and i said no and she said to just call back if it turned red or i was in pain. It never did and i have a healthy baby boy. On both of my pregnancies, (both healthy babies) i had red blood around 8 weeks. Not very much but enough that it scared me too. and everything was fine. don't stress....breathe...pray....stress isn't good, so do what you can to calm down. Call your doctor, but chances are she will just say what mine did. you had an u/s and it was fine when you had the red blood so this is probably what was left with that, that didn't make its way out.

The brown is the finish of the red...older blood that has to make its way out of your system. Probably everything is fine, but I would call your doctor and just let them know. Good luck.

It doesn't sound like too much to worry about. Brown blood isn't usually something to worry about. The bright red is. And it is common to have a little spotting early on. Also, if you and your sig. other have been intimate that can cause some bleeding too. There is a lot more blood pumping down there and throughout your body. Talk to your dr. but don't worry too much.

My doctor told me that brown blood like that can be called "implantation bleeding." Sometimes when the fertilized egg implants itself in the uterus, there is a little bleeding. So, it is a good thing and means the pregnancy is progressing. Good luck. If that's what it is, being "old blood," it will probably stop soon.
