Bored of Doing NOTHING!

I have been thrilled with all the kicking and stuff that I have been getting from my baby; makes it all seem a lot more real! However, I have been very bored. I want to get out and do stuff during my pregnancy but I don't know what. I don't have a job and I take online college classes, so I'm never really out and about. The only time I really get out is when I'm walking my dogs (which I love, but I just need something more). I have felt so couped up but I can't think of anything I can do in this pregnant body. I find it hard to think of things to do during my pregnany. I can think of tons of things I could do if I wasn't pregnant or if my baby was already born, because then I'd have someone to take around town with me and do things with. I need good ideas for things I can do on my own. Indoor activities would be great too. I just want something more to do than homework, walking the dogs, eating, and napping. Any advice would be great! Thanks!

What can I do next?

I see you're 18 - and about 5/6 months along?

There's nothing stopping you from doing anything you want - within reason. Don't go on roller coasters, obviously. :) And nothing that will make your stomach bounce too much.

Head to the library - check out the section for parenting. TONS of great reading - here's my recommendations : anything by Ferber, the On Becoming Babywise series, the Baby Whisperer.

I'd stay away from the encyclopedia looking ones. They list everything that could possibly go wrong, and have one paragraph that says "oh, that only happens to .0001% of children".

Go for more walks! You have to be healthy for two and fresh air is good for your body, sunshine has Vitamin D (studies show leads to healthier babies), and the exercise will make you feel better mentally and physically!

Learn to cook. You've got 10 years of eating at home in front of you. At least. Might as well make them taste good!

Find your pediatrician.

Do all the things you did before you got pregnant (except for the bouncy things! :) )

Take long walks
Yoga
Join a gym.
Call up a girlfriend for a lunch date.
Go shopping.
Spend the day at Fisherman's Wharf people-watching.
Take a beach chair and a good book to the beach. Toes in the water are optional :)
Attend a support group for new moms (or 2 or 3) and get an idea of what it will be like when baby arrives.
Take a a breastfeeding class.
Take a driving day trip to somewhere you've never been (and maybe always wanted to go).

There's nothing that says that you can't do the activities you want just because you're pregnant (within reason, of course).

See if your park district or local hospital have yoga or aqua aerobic classes. Both are great for pregnant bodies and can be done until giving birth. Also your hospital were you plan to give birth will probably have a few per birthing classes you could take. It prepares you for the birth of your baby and gives you a place to meet other expecting parents. You could also find out if their is a group for single moms in the area. It would be nice to have friends who can give you some advice when you need it. Good luck.

Go to a park
Go to a place with fountains
Shopping (it won't be as easy once the baby comes)
Make sure you have some shopping done before your baby comes (food
& clothing-wise)
picnic by yourself w/some yummy foods you're craving
take yourself out to lunch or dinner (easier to do now)
get some ice cream & have a little walk at an outdoor mall
go see a movie
go to a library
walk around a mall & leisurely look at things
drive to a place nearby or store you've never been to but have been
curious about

Enjoy your time now as you will have someone else to think about very soon. :)
