Hi A.,
When my daughter turned 4 last September we did a princess party. Now I did not do the Disney princess just because she did not want a disney princess party she just wanted a regular princess party. I ordered these princess plastic goblets off of the internet that were really reasonable and we did a toast with ginger ale. Outside I purchased red fabric and laid it up our walk way to the front door to represent a red carpet. We made crowns, played games, and I had a princess inflatable moon jump. I ordered a big princess sign off of the internet that I was able to customize to say whatever I wanted it to. I purchased a cake from a bakery in Plainfield that was made like a princess castle with 2 or 3 tiers I can not remember. That is just an idea if your daughter likes princess. This year we are doing a circus theme and we are going to have circus games and a booth so when kids arrive they will get there tickets to play games and have food and a clown. Just some thoughts.
If she is into dress-up, there is a really cool place in downtown naperville which has dress-up parties called Royal Tea Parties ###-###-####, my daughter is 9 now, but when she was 5 or so she went to one there and had a great time.
My daughter just celebrated her fourth birthday at a bowling alley. She loved it and so did all her friends. Minimal knowledge of the game was required, just an adult to direct them to the correct lane. This was only the second time my daughter had bowled but it was just the kind of party she requested. The cost was reasonable and included pizza and pop.
Hi A.!
There is a website called Birthday Party ideas.com (all one word, no caps) that is FANTASTIC! Every idea imaginable. People send in their recap of what they did for a certain theme...the ideas are PLENTIFUL (almost overwhelmingly so!) I have used it for my daughters 1st (Princess/Knights, one son's 10th (LEGO), my other son's 1st (Cowboy/Indian). I have also gotten ideas for our church's VBS this year (undersea), my nephew's 1st (rubber duckie) and I am starting to collect ideas for my daughter's 5th (tea party). It also has party ideas for grown-ups (showers, 40th, 50th etc.) Hope this helps!
