Bfeed Mom Want to Get a Bit Toned Again :) -- Need Exercise Video Rec

Like many, after 17 months I finally have some time and energy to try to work out lightly a few times a well while LO naps. I still bfeed about 3-4 times a day so I do not want to do anything that may impact the quantity or flavor of my bmilk.

Does anyone have a good recommendation of a good work out (non aerobics) video that is about 40-60 minutes????

Thank you.

Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. It's got 3 different levels. Each abt 30 mins. It's 3 mins of weights 2 mins of cardio and 1 min of ab work in 3 cycles. It's interval training which means hard work without shopping at all the whole time.

i am nursing my 7 mo old and i workout 6-7 days a week for about 50 minutes. i go to the gym most days but also workout at home. my sessions are very intense and they have not messed with my breastmilk. dont waste your money on a video- you will get bored of it anyways. take a little time and research exercises online that will get you into shape fast. this will include plyometrics, full body strengthening exercises, jumping rope... if you take the $30 bucks you would spend on videos and buy yourself some resistance bands, light dumbells, or kettlebells that would be even better.

you could try yoga videos. If you are a newbie, just find a beginners and go slow. The stretching alone will make you feel great instantly and give you more energy. Yoga is also a great strength toner for all muscles(full body work out). Yogis are known to have the best butts around! Not to mention it is very relaxing and soothing to the mind and sole. Try burning candles or incense (if you like them) and enjoy! What a nice break for you while the little one sleeps!

I would recommend Physique 57. You can order them on line. It is the work out Kelly Ripa does and she looks great! They have a couple to choose from. I just bought the arm and ab booster and love it. Good luck!

At 17 months PP, you really don't need to worry about impact on your milk. I'm also nursing a 17 month old. A little while ago, I did the Power 90 Tony Horton Videos. You work out 6 days a week alternating the cardio and body sculpting videos. I really like Tony Horton and enjoyed working out to him. You do need hand weights or a resistance band. The only downside is that it's a 90 day program and by that last week or two you can really get bored with the same videos. There are two levels, but the second level is the same stuff you do in the first level with more stuff thrown in. I did see results in that time and I didn't use any of the supplements the Beachbody who puts out the videos pushes. Good luck and good job still nursing!

i would not be afraid of aerobic activity impacting your breast milk. i used video which had some aerobic activity and breastfed without issue. its actually an important aspect of excercise. that said, i was recommended on this site a cindy crawford post natal video- was reluctant but checked it out as she has a well known trainer in the video showing all moves. full toning with light weights, aerobic-40 minutes. i was slim, toned, back to my weight at 4 months. still using at 11 months. good luck

Go to www.bodyrock.tv. There are a bunch of different workouts on there that use only bodyweight, with a little cardio mixed in. I really love the workouts, and it's inspiring just watching the woman that does them.

I own Stroller Strides Central FL. It is a great way to work out with your little one, you don't have to worry about daycare at the gym or trying to squeeze it in during naptime. For me naptime was also, cleaning, laundry, planning for dinner, and a million other things. After 17 months I don't think that exercise of any duration/intensity will effect the quality of bmilk. I worked out at least 3 times a week since my 6 week post pardum checkup and my daughter never seemed to mind :)
Stroller Strides is also wonderful because there are other babies and mommies with you the whole time. You get to spend time with your child and have other moms there to motivate and support you along the way. Our classes are all outdoors and there is nothing better than fresh air with your child!

Message me if you would like more information about Stroller Strides. Or check out www.strollerstrides.net/wintersprings or find us on meetup.com

Leslie Sansone makes some great videos called Walk off the Weight. They are all walking programs with lots of other things mixed in - meant to be done in a small space. They are great - plus they have different levels of work outs - starting with an easy 1 mile and moving up in intensity and length. Check your local library to check them out. Also if you have Family Video near you (chain) they are free to borrow!!!

Pilates is a good way to go, but personally I prefer walking as it is so good for you and really helps get you back into shape after the baby. Especially with Spring coming, you can either put your little one in a stroller/baby jogger and head out the door and start by walking at a good pace around your neighborhood with your favorite music playing in your ears. If your little one isn't napping, sing and talk. It's a great bonding experience as well as getting your heart going. Or bring your best girlfriend. If you would rather wait until "daddy" can play with the baby while you get some exercise, that's a great time to clear your head of the day and refresh. Again, grab your best gal pal and hit the sidewalks for a little adult girl time. After a few days of doing the basic neighborhood route, add some hills. This is great for your calves, thighs and butt. If losing weight is key you have to do hills. Not big ones, just any incline. This has become a Spring/Summer ritual for my best friend and myself and I have to say, I'm looking better as I get older. Good luck and have fun whatever you decide to do.

I"ve heard awesome things about p90x, but you should research whether it's good for BF I would that it would be fine as long as you're sure to replace your fluids.

P.s. More power to you girl!!!! That's awesome that you're motivated to do this.

If you can stomach the 80's hair and work out outfits, I would recommend Abs, Arms, and Lower Body of Steel by Tamilee Webb. She doesn't cover aerobics, but does 6 workouts that are 15 minutes long that focus on some strength training and toning.

She moves fast and doesn't drag through the workout, which I really appreciate.
