I was wondering if any of you could recomend a good exercise dvd. I was thinking maybe a pilates dvd or step aerobics or any other type of aerobics. If any of you could also recomend one that maybe my 3 year old son would also enjoy that would be even better. Thanks

What can I do next?

What I found that really works is Billy Blanks TaeBo (new "AMPED") workout dvds.. I started them after having my son 2 1/2 years ago, and it helped me lose the weight and tone up my body along with doing my normal strength training routine. Its a fun motivating workout. The set somes with 4 different dvds which i rotate out and do different ones throughout the week when i cant get to the gym to workout. If you have any other questions about workouts just ask!!

I know it sounds crazy but, when I ran a home daycare I would put in Richard Simmons and the kids loved it, they went crazy dancing and I could work out. Dancing is a great way to lose and get your aerobic step going. Just a thought!

I'm kind of in the same boat. I need to get some toning done to get rid of what I put on during the winter. I just bought a Denise Austin pilates DVD yesterday and will be watching it today to get a sense of what's involved. I had about 6 DVD's picked out and settled on that one. I think it really depends on what goals you have. I'd like to tone and lose a little weight, so a weight loss pilates routine is more what I need. Keep in touch, I can let you know what I think of my latest purchase if you'd like!

Well denise austin always rocks, but i did just get a new one i love, the quality is so so as far as you can tell when they cut the video together, but it is called malasa bahangra. It is actually a form of an indian dance, but is soo fun. Nothing on the ground, but it does work the legs a lot. If you are not sure you want to buy it (probably only online) if you get fit tv, you can check the schedule online and check it out on tv first, she is only on maybe once a week or something though, goodluck..

Hi C.,

If you want to workout with your son I'd try Billy Blanks basic taebo! My son loves to punch and kick and the music is fun. My son and daughter both do it with me sometimes. I like the taebo live series. You can still get them on ebay. Good Luck!

Hi C.
My own personal favorite is Billy Blank's Toa Bo series.
It is an excellent cardio workout that strengthens and tones all muscle groups, with a concentration on abs and legs. I think your son would enjoy this type of aerobics because it incorporates a lot of karate style punches and kicks. Very Fun!
My daughters enjoy it. They are ages 6 and 2.
Billy has a web site where you can purchase the latest DVDS and any store where exersize tapes are sold, you will find his. Have Fun!! Heidi

C., after my second child I tried the Windosr Pilates videos, it was great it help firm up everything that carring a child ruined LOL, and sicne the videos are only about 30 min. there is still plenty of time to care for the family. I would wake up early and do my short little work out and it gave me extra energy threw the day to accomplish everything moms need too.
Good Luck !

Hi! My favorite at the moment is some workouts be Ellen Barrett. These are cardio exercises that include toning at the same time (!) mostly inspired by pilates moves. You seriously tone every muscle group while you're doing your cardio! It feels great to do both together. These workouts are very low impact and easy to follow. Zen Sulpt is the easiet to start with - it's so low impact that you don't even need shoes! Then Burn & Firm Pilates is the harder one but still not bad. There's also one called Pick Your Spot Pilates. You do need weights for these - 2-3 pounds only. No heavier. The only thing is that it's almost an hour long but worth it to get all your woukouts in one. Can you tell I love them?! I hate working out but I can do these. My mom loves to work out and she loves these too. While they are about as much as I can handle, she does it on her "easy" days! Ha ha! At the end, there are some floor exercises to work your abs and legs a little more. If you decide to try these, please let me know what you think!

I'm chiming in for Tae-Bo too! But I also love Yoga Power Fusion and the Pilates vid I have, can't remember the name. Check out Collagevideo.com. It is an awesome resource for exercise vids and good prices and good customer service.

Hi C.,

A couple of years ago, I started working out to Denise Austin's "Shrink Your Female Fat Zones." I went from a size 12 (165 lbs) to a size 6 (138 lbs.) in about 2 mos. I signed up to her website and learned alot about eating right and exercising. The video is 45 minutes long and you will feel results in about 2 weeks. I noticed the toning when I woke up in the morning. I felt my muscles getting tighter--this increased my energy level too. The exercises are easy. She has great meal recipes and great advice. I also used a couple of her other videos also. The Shrink video is easy especially if you are just starting out exercising like I was. I was never athletic nor motivated enough to do any fast paced exercises, but Denise changed all that. The exercise ball is a great tool to use once you know what exercises to do (Denise will teach you). My best advice to you is to start out slow so that you don't burn yourself out. You will be more apt to sticking with something that doesn't wear you out too quickly. Shrink starts you out slow. It begins by toning your body and then you get the energy to do more fast paced exercises.

Good Luck

MC

The Firm has a whole series. I know they sell at target. They have videos that target certain areas, and all over workout. What's great about the firm is it combines muscle resistance and aerobic excercise together so you benefit by working smarter, not harder to burn/tone/increase heartrate. They do have a starter kit in excercise isle that come with stepper/dvd.
