I have done numerous videos. Too many to list. The BEST by far for toning is P90X.
It is intense!
Hi Ladies. I am a runner and thin but just turned 35 and am noticing how soft everything is and my butt is heading south pretty quick. I was wondering if anyone had any good at home work outs or videos they could recommend. I really just need to tone my lower half. I need something basic and quick I can do while the little ones sleep. Thank you thank you!

I would recommend anything by Jillian Michaels. Also, Bob Harper's book "Are You Ready" is excellent and discusses health/exercise/eating properly and Rodney Yee has great beginners yoga DVD's. Also, there are some 10 minute solution DVD's that I heard are ok. If you have a Wii, my sister said that the EA fitness or EA active is a great workout.
Best of luck,
J.
Hi A.,
I used to do marketing for a company that distributed fitness titles. Out of all of them, including Tami Lee Webb's, the ones that seem to work best and fasted for me is Jari Love's Get Ripped series. She has different tracks so I can pick and choose what I want to work on if I don't have time for the full workout. I know there is a specific term for it but can't remember this early in the morning...she'll have you do things that work upper and lower body so your heart rate goes up while doing the squats or lunges but you're also working your arms with weights too. You get the aerobic but also the toning. She does high reps so you don't get bulky. After doing it a few times, I already started to see muscle definition in my arms, legs and a firmer butt.
Another suggestion for you or anyone who is looking for fitness DVDs...go to www.collagevideo.com. They are well respected in the fitness world and their staff actually does the workouts from all the DVDs they sell and makes pretty thorough reviews on each.
Good luck to you!
Deb
Hi A., if you have a Wii try Wii Fit and Jillian Michael's new exercise Wii. Or the BeachBody Workout for your DVD.
Hi,
The P90x videos are intense, but awesome. And, they work.

good luck finding what works for you
I love p90x...It's worth the investment.
I recommend The Firm videos- they have a ton of them and they will def get your lower 1/2 in shape! They are about 40-60 minutes long.
Anything by Jillian Michaels! She's the best :)
Hi A.,
Like you, I too was a runner. Loved my 6 mile runs, the endorphins highs, but kids and a career and all that food in the workplace took their toll, especially since I was still eating as if I were still running. My Fibro and arthritis got so bad I ended up in a wheelchair. Which didn't help and my new hubby and I favorite thing to do was to go out to eat. I was given 2 hours to live in 2005 and hospice staved off 144 pound in 15 months. Once off hospice, my dotting hubby feed me anything I wanted and instead of continuing to lose, I began gaining. Old habits are hard to change so you must replace them with healthy ones.
Now, I am a Beachbody Coach and I can get you a membership in Beachbody's Million Dollar Club that will get you a 10% discount on P90X with Tony Horton or his 10 Minute Trainer Series, that is now the Number 1 Exercise Video in the US and Canada today. Your choices are not limited to just P90X. I am sure you seen these on TV too, Tony's Power90, Turbo Jam with Charlene Johnson, Shaun T and Hip Hop Abs, Debi Seiber with Slim in 6, Gillian and Teigh with Yoga Bootie Ballet, plus lots more for kids, folks over 55, and even Yoga for Pregnant Moms.
Plus you'll have the opportunity to win daily cash or ipods, cam-corders, etc., everytime you log your exercise in on-line. Meet others through blogs and get to chat with your favorite trainer in our on line chat room. With your full membership you can select specific recommended healthy meal plans that you select and when you've planned a 7 day menu, it will even print out your menu and shopping list for you.
Your first 30 days are free in the Beachbody Club Membership, you can cancel or for $2.99 a week, charged quarterly, you'll continue to get the equivalent of getting eDiets, 24HourFitness, Facebook, and the Lottery all in one.
If it's 2 am and your feeling weak, blog in your feelings and people will respond with needed encouragement moments later. I love it, I was regaining the 144 pounds I lost when my dear friend introduced this to me. I love the concept of being paid to lose so I joined the club and became a coach. Now I have customers and the company gives me their TV customers since they have no way of maintaining them personally that people like me can give our personal touch to help others achieve their fitness goals. I finally believe I'll finally lose the other close to 200 pounds I have left to lose by modifying Debi's routines so I can exercise in a chair since I'm wheelchair bond. I will get out of this wheelchair and do P90X one day.
This is a winning combination for anyone that believes in fitness and healthy life styles and needs to gain, lose, redistribute their weight or tone or get really ripped. You can go to my coach website:

Hi A.,
I'm gonna have to disagree to the posters that recommended Jillian Michaels. Since I am such a fan of hers on The Biggest Loser, I bought 2 dvd's of hers a while back. But I was VERY disappointed. She kept saying before the workout "This is gonna be SOO hard!" and stuff like that, and I hardly broke a sweat. You seem like you're already pretty fit, and I am too, so maybe it's just not right for people that are already pretty much in shape. But it was horrible...Definitely very beginner. I would recommend Billy Blanks Tae Bo. Not only do they work you out really well and get you sweating, it's fun too. I never get bored.
Good luck =)
Anything pilates is great for toning. I've had good results with Denise Austen pilates workouts. If you have a Wii, Jillian Michaels "game" is good.
A. - you live in San Diego!! You've got to check out CrossFit!! www.crossfit.com go here to find a location near you. You WILL tone up, all over and look/feel great and even run faster/stronger! You won't bulk up, just tone. If you can't pay the money right now, crossfit.com is free and they post daily workouts, however, learning the fundamentals first is always helpful, otherwise you won't know what they are talking about. That being said, you still want to workout at home w/a dvd, then I recommend P90X.
Best wishes!

Tape some Denise AUstin, thye take about 15 min and she works a diff. body part each day. I like Quick Fix DVD's, I check them out of the library. They are 10min sections on abs, buns, arms, legs... Any kick boxing, yoga, pilates... variety is key, I think. I get diff videos from the library each week so I don't get bored and my body doesn't platau.
"The Firm" workout DVD's are real great, and challenging and they have all kinds of workouts. I've been using them since I was in college... and currently too. These videos never go out of style, like some others do.
You can get it from www.amazon.com and also see the reviews on it.
The best thing to tone up/firm up areas are light weights (even just 3 lbs. are good enough) or resistance exercises... even just doing them as you watch TV, or if you have stairs/steps in your home, just do lunges on them or push ups etc. Even a wall can be used to do push ups or squats.
Just 20 minutes a day, a couple times a day will get you toned up.
All the best,
Susan
Yoga and pilates videos are great for toning. also John Friend has a great yoga CD. So you can just listen on a CD player or ipod. That way you can do it anywhere. It's called Yoga Essentials. It's a one hour class and there's a chart to familiarize yourself with the postures then after that, just listen. You can get it at Anusara.com.
A fun one that you can do when you are crunched for time is pick 9 excercises and list them on a paper ie. jumping jacks, high knees, push ups, alternating lunges, butt kicks, mtn climbers, bicycle crunch, squat jump and grab a deck of cards. If your kids are around and want to be involved have them draw 3 cards and then add up the numbers. Do the first excercise how ever many it adds up to then draw 3 more cards and do the second and so on...that way you are not deciding how many you need to do and your kids have fun and see you excercising. Go through your list once then take a break have some water and do it again!! Trust me you will get a work out...Good Luck!!
A.,
I jump rope for 10 minutes and added squats, jumping jacks and power lunges into the 10 min. Make sure you squeeze your butt while doing it. Very effective. Good luck
