You are definitely not the only one. I have taken a variety of multi vitamins over the years and then last year I was introduced to ones that I will be taking forever. My energy increased tremendously andI swear that the vitamins and now working from home are what has helped me loose those stubborn 20 pounds I picked up from the kids. The vitamins I take are Vitality for Life and are 10x more absorpable than any brand you would pick up from the grocery store.

Here's the truth.

Your body can NOT process more than 500 mg of Calcium at a time. It's physically impossible. So, most of the supplements that are 1000mg, 600 mg, etc. are a waste of money. I'm not sure why companies formulate them that way knowing the human body's physiological limits.

Personally, I can't take calcium supplements. I must get enough through my diet. When I was pregnant with my second child, it induced severe kidney stones (we believe). The problems went away as soon as I stopped the calcium supplements.

Ask your OB or your primary care provider. See a Registered Dietician who can help you figure out how much you're already getting through your diet and how much you need to supplement. Or, ask a pharmacist.

But, unless we fall into one of those categories of health care professionals, take our advice with a grain of salt.

make sure your multi says it has a "whole food base," and your Vit. D is in the form of D3 (not D2!!! very important!). Fourfold Path to Healing might be a helpful book for you if you're interested in using nutrition & meditation.

Check out http://www.YummyLiquidVitamins.com My hubby and I take them and LOVE them! The best part is everything is in one bottle and you don't have to mix it with water, it's pre-mixed already. You just shake it and take it. And I even noticed that when I took my acrylic nails off, my real nails grew out stronger than when they used to and I'm actually thinking of keeping the acrylics off! I'm also sleeping much better as well. Look at the 3 minute free video on the website. You can't go wrong. Good luck!

For the most part you should get your vitamins through your food and lifestyle. Though there are some that you may not being getting enough of. Vitamin D tends to be the big one most people don't get. However, as someone pointed out, some vitamins can be dangerous if not taken properly or if taken in combination with some prescription medication. So... If you are tired for reasons you can't figure out by adjusting your diet and lifestyle (sleeping enough, exercising enough, limiting stress, etc), you should see a doctor to rule out a medical problem and to ensure you are taking the proper vitamins for your personal situation.
