We used Advant with first 2 babies who started out breastfed. I stopped using those because of the BPA. Now we use Born Free and really like them. They are dishwasher safe. All parts!!! Good luck,
C.
I need help here in choosing a good bottle. I have tried almost every bottle you can think of and I am still not sure which one to use. I used the drop in system with my first baby but I am kind of looking into using reusable bottles. Which bottle do you recommend or don't recommend? Sounds funny but this is really stressing me out.
I just want to thank everyone for their response. It was good to see what kinds of bottles different mothers used. As for me I'm still searching but kind of leaning toward the Avent bottles the Dr. Brown's were great but like most said too many parts. Once again Thank You!!

Personally, I have 5 kids (ages 7 months to 13 years) and used different bottles for each one. At any rate, I've found the best kind to be Dr. Brown's. They're the most expensive, but well worth it! Sometimes cleaning them is a pain because of all of the parts, but it's sooooo worth the trouble! They don't leak like Avent bottles, you don't have to buy the bags like the drop-ins bottles and you're baby will be much happier than a regular bottle (because they really do work when it comes to colic and gassiness!) Good luck!
I used AVENT bottles with both of my kids. They were both preemies and "spitters" so they helped with belly aches and spitting up. Hope this helps. Good Luck!
I liked the Advent bottles best once my daughter got the hang of them. I nursed her and most bottles seemed to make her gag. Now that she is older I use the evenflow bottles. They are cheeper and they work well for her.

I would love to give you as much more information as you would like! Just let me know!
I have used the Dr. Brown bottles for all of my children and they are a godsent. They may be a little more time consuming to clean but when you think of the hours you save not holding a screaming baby that has colic or bad gas, you will not mind they extra 5 or 10 minutes to clean them.
I would recommend Dr. Brown's bottles or Avent. I used both and loved them. They are a little more expensive and Dr. Brown's has a more pieces, but they were great. They are good if your baby has colic or spits up alot.
I recommend Dr Browns for the baby bottles. My twins had bad refluxes. And aslo I had to start feeding them in bottles as soon as they were born. I aad to add some Enfamil to the breastmilk for higher calories.
I had recieved Avent bottle set for my baby shower but my girls always gagged on those.
There are 2 types of Dr Browns.
Natural flow Standard (has a small nipple) and Wide Neck (has a wide nipple like Avent's). And i used Standard one for one of my twin girl and the wide neck for the other.
Only bad thing about Dr Browns bottles is it has too many parts.
My 18 mth old and 7 mth old really enjoy the Ventaire bottles. There is a package for newborns that you can get at any target or walmart. It comes with 8 oz and 6 oz. What is really neat about these bottles is the way that they are shaped in that they don't let in as much air. So the baby won't spit up or need to burp as often. Other than the first month of course. But they come in all colors for boys and girls.
With my youngest, I had the hardest time finding a bottle she would use. Finally I tried the Gerber ones with the triangularly shaped bottles. The nipples are softer and more like the breast. Also, it is a whole system, so as baby gets older, you can turn them into sippy cups. It was also a lot easier for Cacia to learn to hold because of the triangle shape. It gave her corners to grip.
EVENFLOW IS 100% SATISFACTION IS THE BEST AND ALSO CHEAP MANY COLOR MANY SIZES AND STYLE
Hi V.
For my twins i used the vent air bottles and LOVED them! for my baby now im using the soothie botttles they match the pacifier you get at the hospital. So far i like them as well. the vent airs are better due to less air. and the soothie ones are good for no nipple confusion.
hope this helps some

I used Avent with my daughter and she went back and forth b/w the bottle and breast just fine. I actually gave all my bottles to my sister to use with her son... they are very durable and we loved them.
My baby is a brastfed baby and because of that he has NO idea how to use a bottle really. Now that he's older and is drinking juice I had to go through a plethora of bottles until I found one he really liked. In our experience he loved the soothie bottles the most. They're a brand new product. You know the pacifiers they pass out to newborns in the hospital? It's made by that brand. They're easier to clean than other bottles too because the bottle is wide and the nipple has a different shape. HTH! Good Luck!
We started with avent then drop-ins and now dr. browns. they seem to work the best. my baby had colic and gas real bad.
Hi V.,
It took me a long time to figure out which bottle I liked best also. I had the opportunity to stay home with my daughter until she was 3 months and then had a very flexible job that allowed me to work part time and so I was able to breast feed her. It was a little bit of an adjustment for her to start taking the bottle and atfirst she liked the little bitty Evenflo bottles with the small nipples on them (I had actually gotten about 10 of them as shower gifts, so that was nice). I think I preferred the Avent ones as she began to take the bottle more easily. They had a nice shape with a grip on them, and they seemed to be ok as far as controlling bubbles/gas. M
y babysitter also had some of the Gerber bottles with the plastic bags to store my milk and alot of people use those to help keep the air bubbles down. My daughter never really had trouble with gas, or any GI things, so my task wasn't that difficult. Her daughter had collic and so she had a little bit harder time, but I know she liked the Gerber with the plastic bags and then graduated on to the smaller Gerbers with no bag.
The plastic bags were great for the breast milk because she could just defrost by dipping them in warm water, but I think the other ones worked really well for her with formula because of the mixing and heating........
Not sure if I gave you too much info, but maybe this helps a little.....take care,
T. T
I have the Avent newborn started kits and it works great. It reduces colic and air. My daugthers love them also she burps alot faster. I would highly recommend that one. It is so versutal also your child can use it until he or she is a toddler.
I love the "Parent Choice anti-colic" baby bottles. This is Wal-Mart's generic of "Dr.Brown's anti-colic" bottles. These bottles help with colic, gas, and reflux. I am currently usingthese bottles for my 8 month old who has a severe case of reflux at first I was using regular bottles but once I switched to these I notice how much better his reflux and colic got. I wish I knew about these for my first child. I would never use any other bottles now that I found these. The run about $10-12 for a set of 3 are $3.something for 1. They come in 2 sizes the small for newer babies and juice and the larger for older babies. These bottles can only be bought at Wal-Mart. Good luck with your baby. I hope I have help you.
I swore by the Avent bottles when my daughter was little... she used to be colic and used to spit up all the time. I must've changed her formula 50 times but it turned out that the whole time it was the bottles we were using. Within 2 days of switching to Avent she rarely, if ever, spit up and the gas was all but gone. Good luck!!
Avent bottles worked the best for me. I have a premature 5 month old and we tried one of almost every type of bottle. Now he won't even use any other kind but Avent, we tried on vacation and he would have nothing to do with the Gerber. Good luck, Avent doesn't have that much air.
we tried several bottles when my boys were little. I ended up going with evenflo. you can get them anywhere and they are cheap...
I use the Dr. Brown's bottles and love them. My niece had really bad reflux and they basically solved the problem so when I had my first daughter, I just went with them and we've never had any spit up, gassy or reflux problems at all. They are kinda a pain to wash but I just got used to it. Avent worked well when I borrowed a couple as well.
Dr. Brown bottles! There the best! They keep the baby from getting air into there tummys. There a little expensive, but totally worth it. They last long also. I bought a total of 6 of them when my son was born. They lasted him until we bottle broke him.
I breastfeed but when I have to leave her with someone I use the platex drop-ins...I love them!
This one is my 3rd kiddo so I've tried plenty lol
I used Dr. Brown's bottles. They're reusable, but a little more complicated than the norm. I had to go this route because my son constantly spit up. It's great for gas & collick (spelling?) as well. I don't know if you even have those problems w/your babies, but just in case...
When my son was born, I was really going through a bad time and consciquence my milk dried up. so i started on avent, playtex drop ins, and now Dr. Brown in which we have had much luck with. Good Luck
I like the Advent bottles best until my children were older now they drink from reg. bottles. The thing about the advent bottles is the nipple. I nursed so it was easier for the kids to get use too. I don't really like the drop ins because of the cost. As for the bottle if you buy the reg. ones themself I think the nipple makes the bottle. Gosh that's sounds weird. Hope this helps.

The avent bottles are really good. You can get them with the disposable liners or the regular bottles. I used them for my second child and I loved them. You can get them mainly at Target but I think Wal-mart might have some of them.
I use the Playtex VentAire Natural Shape bottles with my 4-month-old son. The bottle nipple simulates a breast to make it easy to go back and forth between a bottle and a breast if so desired.
The shape of the bottle is supposed to reduce gas and colic. He never had colic, so I don't know if it was the bottle or just good luck!
These bottles are sold in sets and singles...I've seen them at Walmart and Target for sure. They come in 6 oz. and 9 ozs. You ought to pick up one to see if you like it.
Here's a link at Target.com:

Hope this helps!
I nursed my daughter most of the time. But, when I couldn't be there she liked the Dr. Brown's. We tried Avent, but she was not a fan. :)
I think it has to do with the kid.
V.,
I agree with some of the mothers that the Dr.Browns bottles work great. The only thing about those bottles are that are maintenance to put together and clean. But they are supposed to help with colic. I really liked them but I also loved avent bottles.
Good luck
I also swear by Avent bottles. I have a 3 year old girl and now a 3 month old baby boy and I've used Avent bottles on both kids. Second child, and I've never had any problems with gassiness etc. on any of them. They are expensive, but last a long time. I used the little 4 oz bottles for pureed food, when my daughter started solids and went on to the bigger bottles. You can buy little tops to fit on as lids.... makes them last longer. Also the bottles from my first child were fine to use again with secong child. All I needed to buy was new nipples. Good luck. Hope this helps.
I adored the Dr Brown's bottles with my first, they gave my son much less gas and he was colicy. My daughter would have none other than the Playtex Vent Air bottles which were much easier to wash.
Dr. Browns are the best. My daughter loves them and she dosen't have any problems with gas. Some people say that they are hard to clean. I rinse them as soon as I use them and put them in the dishwasher and I don't have any complaints. They seem to be as easy as any other bottle. You can also buy the dishwasher baskets to keep all the pieces together.
the advent ones leaked and i think the nipple was too big for his mouth. i came across the dr. brown's bottles. they were worth every penny. they help reduce gas and colic. i mainly breast feed him and have had no problems with nipple confusion. they are really natural. i got 3 in a pack at target for 12.99. he was really colicy so i was willing to try anything. as for my other 2 kids i used gerber bottles but i bought the NUK nipples. they didnot like the latex so i used the clear plastic ones. my older 2 i bottle fed formula only. good luck and i hope this helps!
Hi
I used the Avent and really loved them, I would recomend them 100%.

Hi
Just wanted to give on an opion on the best baby bottle that I used. It was the Platex Vent Aire bottles. They are a little bent at the top and they keep all the air out of the bottle when feeding. They are a little expensive but they work really well and the nipples on them are soft and not to big for babys mouth.
Thanks and hope you find the right one for you and your baby!! :)
I didn't use bottles very often, but when I did, I loved Dr. Brown's. They are more expensive but are great.
Good luck!

Hi V.! I used Avent bottles on both my kids. The nipple is similar to a breast and it cuts down on gas pains.
My favorite is Evenflo. They are the easiest to clean. And I prefer the silacone nipples. Save a Center sells the colored ones & clear ones. I used them for both of my kids. Just remember to hand wash bottles and nipples in hot soapy water in the sink. When rinsing let them run under very hot water while washing the next bottle. Never wash any bottles or nipples in the dishwasher. They will not come clean and it tears them up quickly. Silacone nipples never break down....the rubber ones will break down and get gummy. The expensive ones were never good for me....Evenflo is cheap & convenient and you can find them anywhere.
Well I had trouble with my daughter with belly aches when she was born and we used Dr Browns bottles and they worked wonders. The only bad thing is that they leak if they are turned over in your diaper bag or something. Hope that helps!
I used the playtex ventair bottles, and I really like them. If your daughter takes a pacifier, a company called podee has a bottle system that is kind of hands free for you.
While this may be a three years behind reply, maybe it will serve as a voice from past for some reading up on old postings. I used AVENT with my first one and proceeded to use the same system with number two... Well that didn't work. Come to find out he preferred the old fashioned traditional Gerber bottles with latex nipples. That's after trying a few Soothies, playtex drop ins, and alternating between silicone and latex nipples before changing the bottle. The laytex nipples were a pain cuz of waterlogging but after about 6 months he accepted the silicone but still had to be Gerber. Moral of story here: don't go buy up a system of bottles just yet...try a couple of them to see if Baby likes/takes them...
At first I used the Avent bottles for my daughter but they seemed to leak all the time. I then switched to the Playtex Ventair Natural Shape bottles. The natural shape ones are shaped more like the mothers breast. I LOVED them and that was all we used until she was off the bottle.
The trick is to find a bottle that your baby will not reject and that works for you. Yes, if you do not feel comfortable or do not have the time to clean the bottle that has many peices, then it makes no sense to get it.
Good luck on your search.
I used the Avent bottles with my daughter but I hated them! They leaked all the time. My sister also used Avent and complained of the leaking. They leaked around the rim. I recommend you buying a few of each kind of bottle, rather than just buying a whole bunch of one kind. Then if you find one both you and baby like go out and buy a lot. I heard Dr. Brown's are really good, and also the Gerber brand.
I liked the Dr.Brown's bottles when my daughter was little. I used the drop ins with my son, but I think the Dr,Browns are better. Best wishes.
Be aware that Avent has bpa in them and so does some dr browns bottle. The straw that goes in the bottle does not have bpa. We use dr. browns glass bottle as well as Evenflos glass bottle that I am using with my breast feed baby, it works for us. But all babies are not the same.
This link is on how harmful bpa is:

This one will help you find what brands have bpa in them :

Hello,
I have always used the Avent bottles. The work well.
Hey, there is a Working Mothers Newsgroup in Houston. Some of us live up north. Here is the link - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/workingmomsnetwork/
Hey V., I used playtex ventair for both my girls I really liked them caue I started out using the bags and it was a pain for me.I really like the ventair they are easy to clean and put together. hope this helps!! good luck on your search.
-A.
ventiaire by playtex....loved it w/ my first baby, going to use it w/ the next. there is no right or wrong bottle...its matter of momma's opinion and comfort level. your baby will love whatever you give him. i hated avent bottles
My 15 mo likes Avent bottles. They have different nipple sizes for different ages, and they are easy for babies to hold. Hope this helps!
Hi there! One thing I found that worked well was Evenflow bottles (we used glass and plastic) with the munchkin nipples -- the kind that you can switch the flow with out replacing the nipple. It really did work. Other than that, we had the same problems with avent, at first liked the ventair, but as my daughter grew and ate more, they were too slow. As for Dr. Brown -- great bottles, I just couldn't keep up with cleaning all the pieces....
For my 3rd baby, and stressed out like you. Due to my kids age diffrence 10yrs-4yrs and new baby, I wasnt sure because I nursed with the other two and decided this time around I wasnt going to SO after alot of reschearch I bought the cheap ones from Evenflow and used the Dr. Brown's nipples (they seemed to flowed better). I choose Evenflow because it was cheapper and I could by alot which your going to need if your going back to work and on the go, and if you acidentaly misplace one its no big deal. And they make neat dishwasher thingies to clean the nipples in a suggest getting 2 one to put in the dishwasher and one to reload.
I heard Dr. Browns bottles are the best but they where way to expensive and maintance for a busy mom like me..Advent where also too bulky for me expesially if your trying to pack up 4-5 in a diaper bag. Personally I dont think there is a wrong choice, babies really don't have a perfered choice when starting out, just like with pacifiers they just get use what ever you give them.. but if you keep switching i dont think they will ever get a chance to prefer one over the other.
Good luck
Hi V.,
Sorry for the slow reply, but might be helpful for future moms that read the postings.
I used playtex drop-ins with all three of mine. It's like having a clean bottle on hand where ever I go. I can carry one bottle, an extra nipple and bags. Bottled water can be brought along, same space used as a 2nd baby bottle but can be tossed once empty and the little dry formula holder that has 3 divide sections in it (I bought mine at walmart in the baby section). I prefer not to make no more than one bottle at a time when I am out shopping or running errands do to health issues with formula spoiling if not used right away or getting too hot in the Texas heat. I just found over time I like washing the nipples out only versus the whole bottle and worring if any residue of milk is still in the bottle to spoil.
One other item I bought with #3 that helped me out.. it is made by Rubbermaid holds up to 32oz (measurements on the side 4-32oz) of liquid, cap seals tight and has a little flip lid to pour the milk out.. I would pre-make the milk and store it in the fridge, easy, convient and uses less space than premaiking the bottles and storing them in the fridge. This is good for me when I am home for the day. Pour, warm and serve = happy customer!
Everyone has different choices and prefernces, you just have to find what works for you and your baby.
Good luck to you and all future moms
D.
I bought about four different kinds when I knew my child was going to have to take a bottle when school started back, and the ones that she likes best are the cheap ones you get from walmart for .96 each.
I only breastfed for 6 weeks exclusivly so my son (now 1) was on the bottle for a really long time. We used Avent and they worked great for us. We never tried anything else. One of the moms said that she had problems with them leaking and wee did to but we found if the bottle was leaking all we had to do was unscrew it and screw it back. The best thing about the avent bottles is they have a sippy cup top as well. So when your baby is ready to transition to the sippy cup instead of pushing a nipple into the bottle ring there are sippy cup tops that you can buy that snap into the same ring and screw onto the bottles just like the nipples do. This way they don't have to hold something new and have something new in their mouth all at the same time. My son was off a bottle in no time. I also liked being able to use the supplies I had instead of going out and buying all new stuff. Oh! They have 2 different kind of sippy tops. The soft kind for when they first get started and the hard kind for when they get the hang of it. Let us know what you decide on!
In my experience with three daughters, I like the Evenflo bottles. The nipples lasted longer and didn't collapse in the middle of a feeding. To me it is not about the physical bottle, but the nipple itself. My advice would be try different nipples and that may make it easier. Good luck.
