I like the Avent BPA free ones. Fewer pieces than the Born Free (which have those valve thingies) and we haven't had any problems w/ gas or reflux. Babies fart a lot no matter how you feed them (breast *or* bottle) :)
I used Dr Brown bottles with my first son but wanted to see what everyone else prefers in regards to baby bottles...I'm mainly looking at Born Free or glass bottles but am not sure how they would affect any gas/reflux issues. These bottles would be used for formula. Thanks!

Playtex old style nursers with the drop ins and latex natural latch nipples.
Dr. Brown's - we loved ours!
We loved the Dr. Brown bottles. I'd say stick with them. I love that they're BPA free, help with gas/colic, and the nipples don't collapse
Loved the Dr. Browns
Hi-i used the Playtex nursers with all three of my kids-i loved those bottles-none of my kids ever had a problem with gas or acid reflux or anything-they were wonderful
Hello M. S.,
I also used the Playtex bottles with both of my girls. With the oldest I used the Playtex Drop-In bottles. With my youngest I used both the Playtex Drop-In Bottles and the Playtex VentAir bottles. They are both made BPA free. Neither one of my girls had any problems with gas when I used those bottles. I did try the Avent bottle with my oldest daughter and that caused her to have problems with gas. The only thing that I didn't like with the Playtex VentAir bottles was there were alot of parts to clean, however, you can always throw them in the dishwasher basket =)
I took a Breast Feeding Class thru Kaiser, when I was pregnant with my youngest, and they recommended the Playtex bottles as well. They said to steer clear of Avent - it is a very trendy bottle but horrible on babys digestive system. One of my family members used Avent and had bad results as well.
Another thing that I did when considering bottles was to go on Target.com and you can view the bottles that they sell and then click on the "review" tabs to find out what others who have tried them have to say about them. I found that the reviewers were very accurate when it came to the baby bottles. So you can always give that a try or talk with your babys peditrican if gas is a constant problem.
And one final suggestion that I have to offer is to go on the manufactor's website and see if they have any "freebies" or coupons for the item. I scored a free Playtex Ventair that way =) Or you can always go out and just by one of the individual bottles verses a set of them so that you can try it out first. If your baby likes it go back and buy the set.
Hope that helps, best wishes with baby =)
My daughter was 8 weeks premature so she had problems with acid reflux. We tried a couple different kinds. we did use the Dr Brown's at first because they are good for reflux issues with teh venting and everything, but they are just such a pain to clean! all the parts! we ended up switching to play-tex vent air. i liked that they were slanted and they also had a vent for removing the air from the bottle but without as many parts. there really was only one extra part - the vent at the bottom. So, you have one extra step - screw the bottom on the bottle as well as the top.
i have lots of different types and brands of bottles. but i love the glass bottles hands down. i think the evenflow are the best glass bottles there are and have never had a problem with them. they are cheap and last forever, plus are very easy to clean and steralize
We use Born Free bottles (plastic-like ones) and our girls have acid reflux. They are wonderful bottles.
When I was using bottles (over a year and a half ago!), the Born Free bottles were only available with the "wide mouth" nipples. My son, who was not accustomed to breastfeeding and did not know the "wide mouth" latch position could not get the milk from the Born Free bottles. I went back to Dr. Brown.
