A very close friend is expecting a girl and I am one of the hostesses of her shower. I volunteered to bring the cake however, my friend that makes cakes for us is already very busy the weekend of the shower. I live in Spring and the shower is in Humble so somewhere not too far would be appreciated. I would like something unique and special. any ideas or places?
I second RJ Goodies! Yummy. They can do anything you want as decoration. Bring the invite in and they will make it fit the theme!
I'm sure some of the other responses have given you some ideas, but how about a diaper cake? If you want to make one I can tell you how. Its so easy and the result is great.

Depending on what you are wanting the prices vary. Here are a few examples of cakes she has made I have seen.
Sheet cake that looks like an old carrying record player (theme was 50's).
round cake that looks like a hamburger inc. the layers of meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, with a side of fries (my sons b-day cake one year)
grooms's cake - open ice chest with beer bottles

I don't know if you and/or your friend like Tres Leches cakes, but my father makes them and sells them (to restaurants and for personal occassions). He lives/works in Humble (Atascocita). If you like this type of cake and are interested he can make a WONDERFUL cake for you and will decorate it for the shower as well. R.J. Goodie's on Steubner-Airline near Louetta makes spectacular cakes, and they're delicious! You might try there.
