Baby Dedication at Church?

Wondering if any of you have done a baby dedication at church?

We have two babies to be dedicated (one toddler, one infant) - I am wondering what they should wear?

We have done a baptism before - with the gown and everything - but the church we are at now only does 'baby dedication' until the child is old enough to chose water baptism. I do understand that a baptism and a dedication are two different things. We believe in dedicating our child to God to raise and love this child as He would desire us to, and to teach our children about His love!

What can I do next?

Our church does this too and I have seen the parents dress the children in a range of outfits, but the one thing I haven't seen (as in other churches) is the full christening gown. Usually cute matching outfits that are in-line with the dress of the service/church. during summer cute short sets or bubbles for boys and dresses for girls.
I love Snug as a Bug for nice, not too trendy, matching outfits and ideas.
Best and congrats on the dedication of your babies. A very moving experience to have an entire congregation stand up and pledge their support to you and your family's walk with Christ.

My mother was adopted and therefore dedicated/baptised when she was a child. In the pictures she wore an "Easter" dress with gloves and a hat. Granted this was 50 years ago, but the gloves and hat reflected the solemnity and demureness of the event.

We didn't go to a church when mine were young so we didn't do it. Our old church the parents always dressed their kids up. Plus the churches we went to waitind until the child/adult was old enough and requested to be baptized. Otherwise it isn't their choice and in my opinion doesn't mean much, sorry.

We did baby dedication and just dressed them in something adorable. No need for a full on gown.

I like the idea of a white suit for a boy, or a white dress for a girl. They don't have to be white, any dress clothes will do. I just think that white would look good in the pictures and make the kids stand out from the rest of the congregation.

When I dedicated our kids, Julia (9yrs) wore black leggings and a fancy black top, and Aubrey (2yrs) wore a nice black and blue "easter" dress.

My daughter wore a dress - nicer than "regular" church dress. I would compare it to an Easter dress. Congrats!

At our very casual church (not uncommon to see shorts and flip-flops on the adults) the boys usually wear shorts or long pants and a collared shirt, any shoes and the girls are almost always in a cute little dress.
