A pant suit is appropriate. You want to be comfortable. Though black is not the customary color to wear at a baptism, if this is what you have then make it work with a pretty light-colored blouse, a fun necklace...anything that looks festive.

Of course it is. You should look for a nice blouse that emphasizes the smallest part of your top (just below the bustline) and a v-neckline. Nice pair of earings, which draw the eyes towards the face, and your best smile. That should do it. God bless you and your great family.

There are some churches that have this (dumb) ideal that women should only wear dresses or skirts at ALL times when attending services because pants are for men. I was in one of those churches once, and needless to say, that was the last time I went! What kind of church would force people to wear dresses or skirts because they believe it is what God wants or is more feminine? I'd say wear whatever makes you feel gorgeous, elegant, and happy, rather than something you feel is accentuating flaws and will make you look uncomfortable to the congregation.
Anyhow, my mother wore a nice black pantsuit to my wedding and everyone complimented her on it. It was a black velvet jacket with black wide-legged flowing slacks and a cream-colored sequined top, and she accessorized it with a pearl necklace and pearl earrings. She looked happy and natural in the photos, not to mention that the pant suit made her look like she was 20 lbs thinner! Whatever you choose to wear, make sure you feel comfortable in it. Good luck and let us know what happens.

Yes, it is okay to wear black pants & a nice shirt. Be comfy, so you will enjoy the day.
I wore a black dress to my son's Baptism. Black is totally fine & so are pants.

Yeah!! That would be just fine you could even add a cute pair of satrapy sandals...you can even have the dad dress down a bit too then you will feel a bit more comfortable as well, like maybe dress pants with a button down un-tucked shirt or maybe a nice polo shirt. Maybe mention the attire to the god parents as well, most people love a chance to get out of a dress and heals, and a suit and tie. But like the last reply, it doesn’t really matter what you wear, just be comfortable. You will have 101 other things on your mind and to do that day, so the comfier the better. Hope this helps...

Noelia, my names J. and I've been a single parent of 2 my son is 30 and my daughter is 16. I like you really hate dresses. I wear pants or shorts all the time, however, I have found even in looking at pictures as time goes by that there are times in my childrens lives that even though uncomfortable to me it is appropriate to wear a dress. Baptisms of your children are one such occasions. When your kids grow up you want them to know that you were willing during periods of their life to give up what is comfortable to you to prevent them being uncomfortable. As they look at these pictures in the future, the ones where you were inappropriately dressed will be the ones that they will not show and may even leave out of the photo album all together. I hope this helps.

Wear what you want! God's worried about your soul not you're outfit. He gave Adam and Eve only fig leaves.

Hello Noelia,

I went to Fashion School so my advice to you is that you accesorize real good instead!

go for a nice earring and necklace set , or wear a nice brooch, shoes and handbags that match always make an impressing touch! wear your slacks and nice blouse, just don't forget to accesorize!!!!

I'm Christian and we are having my daughter's Dedication on the 8th of Feb..I'm also a few pounds extra and most things don't fit..so I'm looking to add some dazzle to my wardrobe by accesorizing!

although here in Miami techinically its not really WINTER, but if its cold out, you can throw on a nice scarf or a hat

hope this helps and may your baptism turn out BLESSFULLY!

God Bless

Noelia,

You shouldn't wear anything low cut that shows too much cleavage, or short shorts or skirts or dresses so short that you can't sit or bend over without showing your panties. Black slacks and a nice blouse? I say go for it! Church is a place to glorify God. God doesn't care what you wear to church but to be respectful, we we should dress a bit more modestly so we don't offend anyone.

I'm not catholic, but protestants have something called a dedication, and it doesn't matter what anyone wears. If you were at my church it would be OK. I don't think God really cares what you are wearing!

If your place of worship allows for women to wear pants, then the outfit of black (formal) slacks with a nice blouse or shirt is appropriate. Besides, it would be a comfortable outfit and you will have one less thing to stress over (which will allow you to be more focused on the baptism).

Absolutely! People (especially in Florida)don't dress formally for church anymore. Jazz up the outfit with some great jewelry.

Hi, Noelia. Well, my first thought is that as long as you are dressed appropriately for church, dressy pants and a dressy blouse should be fine. However, some churches are a little weird when it comes to what they want women to wear, so if that is the case with your church, you need to consider that. Otherwise, the baby and the Lord are really the stars of the Baptism, so don't worry too much. ( :

Blessings,

Hi - it seems like all the Moms are in agreement. I think it really depends upon the type of church you attend. My children were all baptized in a Southern Baptist church and I'm sure I wore pants too. I also do not like dresses, I have several body issues and have gained weight too! We attend a Church of God now and the general congregation is more formal but they are much older people and were raised that way. I still wear pants to church and I don't believe that God will abandon me for that.

If people gossip about your clothes on a day like that that then "they" need to have a reality check.

God bless you all
M. F

this is not an answer,we are baptizing our 14 year old daughter this year at easter vigil and i am having a hard time finding the traditional white, poofy above the knees baptism dress the girls wear for the ceremony.does anyone know where i can find a poofy baptism dress in her size-12 to 14?she already has the traditional flower headwreath with ribbons down the back, the lace anklets and the white 'mary jane' shoes.I dont want her dress to be midthigh length, just to the top of her knees.she will have white rubberpants and a tee shirt under the dress so i dont want it too short.
