If you don't want there to be any shots then there won't be any. This is a parents choice and decision. I personally kept that poison away from my children.
hey mommas...
quick question because I cannot remember from last year with my son and I know my daughter will ask, are there shots at the 4 yr physical?? We are heading out for out 45 min drive to the pediatrician in 2 hrs and figured I dont want to lie to the child if she asks... and yes I would call the office and ask but I dont want to disturb anyone when they are already so busy in there!!
Thanks!!!!
thank you mommas! i appreciate you giving me your input :)
update: yup 4 shots... poor thing :(

.
Only if you want them.
Disturb them- every pediatrician is a little different in how they space-out the shots. If all else fails, just tell your daughter that you are not sure and ask at the desk when you check-ing.
Call and ask them every office is different. It's common to get this set between ages 4-6 our pediatrician does them at 4 if they are starting kindergarten before their next physical if not they wait until 5. My 4 yr old will have them next April when he turns 5.
Probably too late to answer this, but there is at my children's Dr's office and my sister's. I make the joke now, because to me they aren't Kindergarten shots anymore but preschool shots. But the good news is it should be the last of them outside of flu shots until they are 11 I think?
it seems like there's usually a couple. tell her you're not sure.
I dont think so. My kiddo's didnt have anything at three or four...but I believe at five they did....Then they have nothing until they are ten.
If my memory serves me correctly.
My doc does everything in mixed form...meaning he will do two shots with six different things....or one shot with alot(This was only the last time we got shots that they had this).
My daughter got one booster bc the pneumococal vaccine changed since she got it as a baby. Of course she also had a finger stick for hemoglobin and a TB test. Her appointment for 4 yrs was the last weekend in July!
yep, we got 4, plus a flu shot last october. ask your pediatrician. he/she might have you on a different schedule, but that was our schedule. we won't have to deal with shots again for years though (8 or 10 years old?)
There was a new one introduced last year. My son didn't get it because it was new, the ped had told us at 3 that there wouldn't be one, he had asked earlier in the day and I had said no, the flu shots weren't there yet and we wanted him to have that one. Long story short, they gave it to him that fall along with his flu shot.
I guess my answer is ... probably. Our ped follows the AAP guidelines unless a parent requests and alternative schedule (which we don't), so I think so.
I always say "Hmmm...not sure......" Then if there ARE shots, it's done without the agonizing, and if there aren't, everyone's happy. :)
My pedi does try to give the boosters at the four yr check up but technically its between the ages of 4-6 and before kindergarten. I opted to wait a little longer since my son was 5 when he got them. Good luck :)
4 of them :( Just made my daughters appt today. Can't wait for that day.... Ugggggg
We just had a disastrous 4yr old visit to the pediatrician earlier this week - here's to you having a MUCH better one! I called in advance and found she was due for FOUR boosters according to schedule, but she didn't really need any of them until next year as they are required for kindergarten so I was going to postpone them all so she could have a simple. pleasant check up. Long story short, my daughter FREAKED out at the visit and wouldn't do anything including height/weight etc, so since she was already worked up we ended up giving her two of the vaccines and we'll do the other two next year.
Good luck!!
