Appetite Suppressants

I started to take appetite suppressants in Feb and since then I've lost 25 pounds, but still have more to lose. I had energy and postive thoughts and did not feel hungry or punished when it came to food. I was taking them through my Doctor and since then, I have been taken off of them. She only prescribes them for a couple of months and then you have to keep the same behaviors and workout schedule to lose more weight. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good over the counter appetite suppressant that can be found and does not have a TON of caffeine that would make me want to slap people's heads off? I need energy in order to keep going and work out....I'm not in my 20's anymore!

What can I do next?

Apple Cider Vinegar! Put a couple of tablespoons in a glass of water (or less if that's too strong), add some cinnamon for taste if you'd like. You can drink it throughout the day or just when you're hungry. It's very healthy for you and has benefits besides appetite suppression but for me it's a great way to control my appetite!

I know how you feel. Was it phentermine or Redux? That's what worked for me, but you build a tolerance to it after a couple of months. I have used the five hour energy and that helps. If you find something else, let me know. I'm not in my 20's anymore either!

Good for you for your weight loss accomplishments! It's so true that our 'behaviors' have to be aligned with our goals and therein lies the key. Experts say about 75% of overeating is emotional eating and it is the emotions that direct our behaviors. It's why we yo-yo diet. Often we are highly motivated at the beginning of a diet and can lose weight, but after awhile the motivation lapses and the underlying emotional 'distress' starts running the show -- including guilt for not doing a diet perfectly and snacking on something we know we shouldn't have. People I coach have found befriending those emotions is effective, affects their lives as a whole and not just in eating, and is fun! You're off to a great start! Congratulations!

My husband started taking phentermine a few months ago. I had my 3rd child last August and still had some weight to lose so I took some of his pills for a few days to see if I liked it. When I went to get my own, they said I was a few pounds less than I needed to be to get them. Great news, but I still wanted something especially after seeing how well they worked...and I wanted the extra boost of energy too. Anyway, I bought some pills from GNC called Oxy Elite Pro. They have 100 mg of caffeine in every pill. They have worked extremely well and I have so much more energy than before. It says to only take them 8 weeks followed by a 4 week break and even on the break, I have still had more energy than before. Hope you find something to help!

Congratulations!!

I don't have an answer, except that most docs will not prescribe them long term because they are addictive. They are usually more of an 'over the hump' kind of thing. Sounds like you have made progress.

I don't think any OTC suppressants work. Otherwise, everyone who needed to drop a few would take them, right? I am 35 and lost 60lbs on Weight Watchers. Never had I been able to lose weight before, but I learned new eating habits and now I crave foods I never wanted before and dislike some fatty foods that I could eat with no problem. It took a couple of months to change my habits, but it happened.

Good luck to you!!!
