Any Tips for Legoland Discovery Center in Schaumburg?

I'm going here tomorrow with my coupon for 1 free child's admission. Is there anything special we should do/avoid? Is there a place there to eat or somewhere nearby that's good? My sister is in town and we are going there. She is not as budget conscious as I am, so any money-saving tips would be appreciated. Lego Adventure is about 30-45 minutes from my house and while I know kind of where it is, I'm not familiar with the area.

Thanks!

There is a little cafeteria upstairs by the play area, we only got cookies and juice but I think they sold pizza and maybe sandwiches. If I were to go again I would pack my own lunch or snacks for the kids. We went with our 4 yr. old twins and maybe were there for 2 hours. You go through all the exhibits on the first floor and then there's a little ride. On the second floor there's a 3D movie (boring) and a room where they show you how they make the legos (and they get 1 lego to take home, woohoo) and then there's the play area/cafeteria. My kids spent the most time in the play area, where they can make little lego cars and there are different lego building stations, and there's also an area to climb and slide. Unless we got free passes, we wouldn't go back (admission is very pricey for what you get).

Hi M.-

I have not been to Legoland yet, but I live minutes away. The $20. admission is a lot of money in my opinion. Even with the buy one get one, I'd still be paying $40. for my twins and myself. However... I just came across a better coupon offer .... it's $7.00 admission... but it's good after 3 pm. and I think it's only good on certain day. Here's the link to get the coupons.

Legoland is right next to Carson Piere Scott, Jamba Juice, and Starbucks. Dicks Sporting Goods Store and Maggiano's Restaurant are nearby, too. This outdoor mall is across the street from Woodfiel Mall. Maggiano's is the closet place to the street... the rest of the mall is in a bit away from the street near Woodfield Mall.

I did go on line awhile ago to look at Legoland's website and it is a helpful website to get you acquainted with the place before you go. You may want to do that before you go there.
As far as lunch goes...To keep costs down, I'd check to see if you can bring in your own juice boxes, sandwiches, etc... Like another poster mentioned, Rainforest Cafe located in Woodfield is a fun atmosphere for kids, yet it can get pricey.....There is a McDonald's and A & W Rootbeer Restaurant in Woodfield too.

I hope this helps some... have fun!

I haven't actually been to Legoland but it is basically in a detached section of Woodfield Mall called The Shops of Woodfield. I'm sure there is info on the Mall's website if you google it. In the mall there's a food court as well as some other resturants. If you want someplace fun to go sit down there is a Rainforest Cafe.

I totally agree with Lisa. If there is a coupon for after 3 I would use that. We were there for 2 hours and were done including the playtime. We had a coupon as well (I think $5) I thought it was barely worth that. I wouldn't go back for a long time and then it would need to be less than that. I hope that helps. Woodfield Mall is right there and has lots of places to eat.
