I am 44 years old and I am having hot flashes, a little weight gain and my faces seems to be breaking out a little more each monthly. Is there any over the counter medicine that anyone could suggest for this. I have an appt in Feb to see the doctor about possibly the change of life may be happening.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you to the ladies that were able to give me some suggestions. I have ordered some remifemine and will give it a try. I truly appreciate your support.

remifemin is an excellent over the counter remedy made of a specific german black cohosh. You may just need to get your hormones balanced. How you choose to do it will determine your results. If you go to a holistic minded MD or DO or even many chiropractors that have a GOOD understanding of chinese medicine (herbals) and acupuncture, then you can have a smooth harmony with your hormones whether you are truly going thru the change or attempting to do it sooner than you should. My body tried to do this when I was 21...that is WAY too young. My dr's helped me balance so I would not go thru menopause, but rather balance out my hormones for my age. Even just a simple progesterone supplement (natural micronized in pill form or a natural progesterone cream) can make all the difference in the world. My Internal Med dr who also is somewhat holistic minded started me on that path. She also was the one to introduce remifemin. Since getting better balanced there, I have gone on to see a chiropractor that really understands hormones WELL and I no longer need progesterone or remefemin. I do take chinese herbs and someday will not have to once I get totally back together...I have been having many hormone fluctuations due to delivering 3 children very close together so those ups and downs make it hard to stabilize fast. Good luck and I hope you find the balance you need to get rid of those nasty symptoms!

You can go to a health food store and look for herbs like Dong quai, and black cohosh, but not all supplements are standardized or tested (actually most are not)
The company Melaleuca makes a supplement called EstraVal that my friends have had good success with. I am allergic to black cohosh (so is my mom) or I would be taking it now.
Natural is always best!!! But be careful with herbs and such and go with someone who knows!!

I agree with the women suggesting natural products!
There is a product you can buy online from www.marketamerica.com/2bewell it's called Feminine. It's a natural approach to the natual changes that happen to us women.
I have a friend who takes Feminine and it has helped her a lot with her hot flashes. She is 45yrs. and started the product 1 1/2 yrs. ago.
ooops, I just noticed this request for advice is dated. If you haven't already found something that works, please check this product out. It can be found under the health and nutrition portion of the webportal.

you need some hormone therapy, ask the pharmasist if there is any over the counter, but your insurance will pay for what your OBGYN prescribes
