Any One Recomend a Doctor to Treat Fibroids Cyst.

I have had the same Physician for about 8 years or so, he delivered my only son who is now 4yrs old. About a year after my son was born I noticed that I was having heavier, prolonged periods. I was also spotting before and after periods even bleeding between. Then my periods were lasting about 12-14 days. Not to mention the abdomen pain, pain during intercourse and the feeling of bloating and abdominal pressure. After several times asking my physician to have me tested for what ever was going on with me. I finally got fed up and switched physicians.
Now I find out that I have fibroid cysts in my uterus and this new physician immediately said I needed surgery. (I'm not planning on getting pregnant this year but would like to with the next 4 years.)
So this new physician tells me well " would you consider a hysterectomy" I was like no of course not I'm only 30yrs old with one child. So he decided that he would do Myomectomy or hysterectomy using a laparoscopy. I guess I'm pretty naive to all this stuff I was under the impression this procedure was to remove the fibroid. Wrong, apparently I have over 8 or more cyst and I will not be able to get pregnant not to mention dealing with all of the pain and heavier periods until I have them removed. I just had the procedure done on the 21st of Feb and the results have come back and fibroid are not cancerous, Thank God. It just seems this doctor does not want to explain to me what is going on with and what my options are. He is so quick to dismiss me and I leave feeling unsure and uneasy. He now wants to do a larger surgery to remove the cyst. When I asked him what other options I had he ignored me. I don't want to go back to my old physician and I don't like this physician. I don't know what to do. I'm so miserable right now it seems as the condition is getting worse. I need to find a physician who will explain to me what is going on with my body and one who won't be so quick to dismiss me or jump into surgery for everything. Please if any one knows of a specialist whom I can trust. I have really good insurance and I feel like this physician is in it for the money. I just want to get this problem under control with out taking away my options of having children. I really don't know what to do anymore.

Ay mija, I read your dilemma and thought poor girl , my heart goes out to you, I am some one you know ,I put the puzzle together and realize who you are , maybe you can figure who I am , I wanted to suggest Dr. Jennifer Jacob , but after I realize who you were ,I remember that you had already seen her and you weren't too happy with her , the only other thing is to see a female doctor I feel that they have been a little more sensitive to how a woman feel about certain issues concerning our bodies. There is another doctor that I saw that was really thorough she ran all the right test and had a very sufficient staff . The only thing is that she looked like she was a manly female not that should matter , but I don't know how you feel about a women doctor , to me if she helps you that's whats important . I am so sorry you feel so bad mija , I will pray for you and hopefully you'll get the help you need. I am currently seeing a family doctor who is female as a matter a fact my urologist is also a female and she is very good to she has a very good bedside manner . I know you want a good gynecologist , well at my family doctor I picked up a brochure of a gyno. and he happen to be a male but he sounds good I have never seen him myself but maybe you'd want to try him....call me mija whenever you want and I'll give you his name I love you mija and I hope you start to feel better pretty soon, don't give up you'll find some one soon...... love you. your auntie ......

Dear R.:
I too have fibroids cysts. My OB/GYN is wonderful, I would not trade her for the world! She considers all other options before she will reccommend any surgery. Her name is Roberta Krueger. She delivered both my boys and has a wonderful compassionate bedside manner. Good luck! Right now I am on the BC Yaz and it has helped my fibroids.

R., I don't know of a doctor, however, I can give you a procedure in which my cousin received and successfully went through. It is not well known, nor promoted by the medical field and may even be questioned by insurance because it is not the norm. However, it is less invasive and takes care of the problem by stopping the blood flow to the cysts. It is called U.A.E. or Uterine Arterial Embolization. You may have to check with a few doctors, or research it on the web or check maybe with UT Health Science Center to see where you can get this done. It doesn't require a partial nor full hysterectomy since they basically laser (I believe) the blood flow and the cysts die off and pass over a period of time.

Good luck. M.

Dear R.,
So sorry to hear of your story. I just wrote you a lengthly message, but I think it was lost as I tried to get the web address above!!!! So sorry!!!!
In brief, I had been with an OB/GYN for almost 10 years. After not conceiving for 2 years, he performed a laporoscopy and determined I have severe endometriosis & fibroid tumors. At the request of my mother and husband, I sought a 2nd opinion with Dr. Arredondo at RMA of Texas. I am so glad I did!!! He discovered in addition to the problems listed above, I have a huge ovarian cyst! He has been polite, thorough, and has given me several options rather than surgery. He has put a plan into action for me and I feel I am in good hands. He also advised me to seek acupuncture for better blood flow & overall good uterine health. An acupuncture office is also located inside the RMA office making it very convenient.
Dr. Arredondo is on my insurance plan, but not the acupuncture. The staff is friendly and very accommodating when it comes to making you feel comfortable, answering questions about insurance, and scheduling appointments. I am very glad I found RMA!!! Check out the website for more info: http://www.rmatx.com
They are located at Knight's Cross & Stone Oak.
Best wishes to you!!!

R.,

I had the same problem and unfortunately I did have an hysterectomy. And boy do I wish I had never done that. I also wish I had known about mangosteen juice back then, (but it wasn't on the market yet). Mangosteen juice will shrink and eliminate fibroid cysts or tumors. I also get them in my breasts and since drinking the juice every day I no longer have that problem and has helped my blood flow and lowered my cholesterol. I highly recommend you check it out for yourself. The only company that makes the best juice is Xango and you can only get it by referral. So I am referring you to this website so you can see what it's all about.

You poor thing! I really feel for you. We are the same age, have kids who are the same age, and I relate to many symptoms you described. (Guess I need to take a trip to the OB soon!) Anyway, my mom had an emergency hysterectomy six years ago. The doc who performed it was Dr. Cavasos, who is no longer practicing (retired). However she has been very happy with the doctor he reffered her to, Dr. James Lovelle. I can't personally vouch for him, but my mom is VERY familiar with doctors, and I would certainly take her word for it.
Good luck and good health!

I am so sorry. I have had many issues, too. My gyn is Lilian Jones at ###-###-####. She no longer delivers babies but works with a group that does. She is wonderful. I have called her at 8pm crying of pain. She is always available or calls me right back. When I see her, i plan to stay a while. She will sit and talk as long as needed. My mother, sister, aunt, mother's work and others i know see her. When i have had surgeries, she talks with my husband and explains exactly what has happened and even brought pictures to help him understand and then the recovery process. I am 35 and have not had a hysterectomy yet, but she has kept me going wonderfully. I wish you the best of luck.

I worked for an OB/Gyn for several years and agree with you. You need a second and perhaps even a third opinion. My daughter goes to a very good OB/GYN, Peter Kuhl, 7950 Floyd Curl, SA, TX ###-###-####. He delivered her four children - I was in the room when he delivered one and his demeaner and bedside manner was excellent. She has a lot of confidence in him - so I feel safe recommending him. The GYN I went to moved to Rockport - and don't recall her replacement here.

Good luck and like you I don't rush into surgery!

It all depends on how many, how large and where the cysts are located. But check with several good gynecologists and surgeons before making any decision.

Hi R.,
Sorry to hear about your problems.
I used to have female problems too.
My OBGYN was great. When I developed female problems he was of no help and I switched to a female GYN.
She is the greatest and helped me.
Her name is Dr. Woody-Gross and she is located in the Medical Center in SA. Close to Methodist Hospital.
Like I said, she is the greatest and she's a female and understands.
Good luck
