I don't know if its my age or if I am being a big baby. I'm only 35. I used to have warning signs right before I was going to start like the stomach funk or pooping every time I ate something for a week. I know about when it will come but that often varies. I never feel good the first 2 days and I don't go places for fear of what might happen. I get cramps and either my butt hurts like I pulled muscle or it feels like someone shoved forceps partially in and forgot to take them out. I usually get light headed if I stand too long because of my entire butt region hurting so bad. this time I have lower back pain. I can't wear tampons for 4 hours the first day I start because the second I put one in, I start dripping. I use supers the first 2 days. I can't eat out at decent restraunts because I get diarrhea. I can eat any kind of fast food which doesn't make sense. Maybe my body ain't right. Normally Coke makes me feel really good but this time it did not work. I know there has to be people who have it worse than I do.

Does anyone have any solutions for feeling good the first 2 days

What can I do next?

GO get a physical to rule out common things that appear at 35. Rule out diabetes and thyroid. Around 35 is when I started to feel differently and my periods began to change. It could be peri-menopause. 35 is the age when everything catches up with you. So if you are not eating well and not exercising you need to start (gradually). But rule out any other causes.

I used to have these symptoms too, so sorry you are going through this! I now drink raspberry leaf and nettle tea during my periods and the difference is outstanding! No more cramps and much less volume in flow. Both teas tone your uterus for overall health. I know others who have cured endometriosis with raspberry leaf tea. The teas are You can find the teas in the health food aisle at most stores. Good luck!

I am 37, and last year my periods starting changing too...nothing major like yours, but enough that i noticed. I went in for an MRI on my back, something totally unrelated to my period or female health, and it found a large cyst on my right ovary. After several ultrasounds & tests done on that, turns out it was pre-cancerous. I eneded up having to have surgery last november to remove the cyst, ovary & right fallopian tube. Needless to say, my periods are now back to normal. You should go see your OB/Gyn and get checked out. Like the other ladies have said, could be fibroids or a cyst. Good luck!

J.,
GNC carries vitamins that are herbal in nature that are supposed to help women reduce premenstral and menopausal symptoms. I took some that were similar years ago, and they did help. I have also taken Evening Primrose Oil, which is supposed to help. Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen recommend this. Finally, I was always helped by birth control pills. They lightened my flow, and my cycle was like clockwork. It was pretty nice to know the actual day every month it would start. It also helped my cramps be less. Hope this helps!

I had similar symptoms at about the same age. It turned out that I had endometriosis and fibroids. I think you should check with your doctor to see if anything has changed since you were there last. Take care.

I have the same problems and am extremely tired. Midol (NOT Pamprin) helps with the pain...a heating pad helps too.

I have problems like this only somewhat bigger. I end up using a super plus tampon every two hours for the 2nd through the 5th days. I also get bad cramps/diarrhea/bitchiness/migraines etc.... My nurse practitioner told me that I have PMDD. She gave me Zoloft to treat it since I was still nursing at the time and hormonal treatments were out of the questions. I'm actually going to stick with the Zoloft. It has helped tremendously.

Maybe asking your doc if it could be PMDD and seeking some kind of treatment for it would be beneficial.

Talk to your doctor/midwife. It sounds like fibroids or cysts. My mom had similar issues even younger than you are. There are so many options with diet and herbs now instead of the hysterectomy that used to be the only option.
