You can only get a marriage annulled if you can prove that it can be voided under the laws of the state or if both parties state that the intent to marry was never present.

Even when a Catholic marriage is annulled, a divorce still takes place because the civil contract has to be broken before the marriage can be annulled.

Call a good attorney to handle this. I would recommend Sherrie ____@____.com is a former prosecutor and very smart. Has handled a lot of divorce stuff.

More important, get yourself to a safe place, ie, a women's shelter to keep you and your child from harm. Call the metro-wide hotline at 816-HOTLINE. Don't wait. Your & your child's safety is very important...at this minute, more important than the divorce.

Well I think it's pretty much the same all over. You would have to both agree that you have not ever had sex. I think if he contested it than it wouldn't work. You will still need a lawyer.

I was in a similar situation. The first thing I did was move into my own place. I found a divorce kit online and did all the paperwork myself. He was willing to sign them once I was done. It was kind of nerve wracking doing it all myself but I didn't have the money for a lawyer. End result, I was divorced and that was all I cared about. Let me know if you want the website and I will dig it up.

Are you Catholic? I ask because an anullment is usually a Catholic thing. Contact your church about it. What you really need is either counseling or a divorce.
