Yes they will work fine.

I have a friend that makes bows. Instead of using alligator clips for newborns, she uses a women's knee high panty hose to make a headband. They aren't tight and are stretchy, so she can use them as the baby grows. The silkiness of the stocking does make it a little hard to keep on, but they are really comfortable. That may be an option if your friends little one has no hair. I can give you my friends web address, if you're interested.

I have a friend and asked her. She said they will work perfect, just make sure they're the small ones.

i would have to say that those would probably work great. a newborns hair is usually pretty silky until about 9mo to a year then the texture will begin to change. even if her daughters hair is extremely thick and course she could still only gather a tiny bit of hair to put the bow in

Coming from an AA any clip that works on caucasian hair will work on AA hair. I don't think that they make clips specific to race. Hope that helps.

Hi, J. what a great friend you are and so thoughtful, I have to say I am caucasian and I worked on african-american hair in beauty school and it was easier than caucasian, does what you want it to do molds nicely, loved it. Either white or black I think depending on how much hair they have they may slip out all together due to having little hair at first, maybe down the road, they'll work when she gets more hair, but babies always go through the shedding process and lose most of their newborn hair, so make 'em and give 'em I know that she'll love 'em. Maybe you could put a dash of the puffy paint they sell in craft stores on the end where it meets the hair for non-slip purposes also. Have fun and she'll appreciate it.

Any hair clip that you can use in Caucasian hair works fine in African American hair. I am African American and my six year old daughter has all kinds of hair clips and barrettes.
