I am a single mom of a two year old and I want to get her out of the at home daycare she is at and into a pre-school with structure and where she will be learning more. I want to know of any affordable daycares in my area with a good reputation. I live in los angeles and would prefer a daycare in alhambra or pasadena. I was hoping someone would have a recommendation for me

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all your input... I found a great pre-school that helps with potty training and a program for 2-3year olds in San Gabriel called Wonder World. They teach them how to brush their teeth etc. and everything is very hands on.

My son will be finishing his 3rd year at Celebration Kids in South Pasadena. We LOVE this place and Finn loves it too. the Staff is great, not too big but still space for running and playing. Not crazily expensive. Look them up on the web an tell them Finn's mama send you ! 323 ###-###-#### (Sara or Michelle)

Hi T.. We live in the South Pasadena area, not too far to Alhambra and Pasadena. My 3.5 year old started going to pre-schools full-time at 2 years old, simply because I also wanted her out of the daycare she was in and put her in a place with structure. I found Celebration Kids through my friend who highly recommended it. Not only is it a pre-school, it's also a daycare for the 2 year olds. My daughter attended full-time, all day. Other pre-schools I found were only for half-days, part-time, and much more expensive. From the 2 year old room, they graduate to the potty-training room, at 2.5 yrs old, where they actually potty trained her! Awesome! Now she's in the pre-school curriculum. I have another girl and she'll be starting a the school next month. Check them out. The staff is great. The owners are Sara and Michelle. Their website is CelebrationKids.net. Good luck.

T.,

Try Tinker Tots Preschool, my son attended there from 2 - 3 1/2 yrs old. (we moved out of the area).

Speak with either Dorothy Ku, Assistant Director, or Mala Chabra, Director. Tell them you found them on mamasource via C. Bracamonte (Sebastian's mom).

Tel: ###-###-####.

They have a great program for all the children and great teachers.

We were sad to leave, sometimes visit, and were glad he attended there.

Good luck.

I don't know of schools in that area but have you tried calling a child resource center that can tell you about schools and some resource centers even have programs that help pay for tution. I am in the San Fernando Valley and I went through Child Care Resource Center (CCRC) and they found a school and paid while I worked. Good luck.

I highly recommend Firehouse School in Altadena - corner of Allen and New York. I think they are around 650$ a month and worth every penny. My daughter loves her teachers - and she knows all of the 5 teachers in the school as well as the owner. She is taught in English and Spanish, they help with potty training if you are in the 2 year old class, and my husband and I notice frequently new words and ideas she has learned. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions but we LOVE it. The hours run from 7am-6pm with "school" from 9-3. The price includes the extended times, so you have that luxury.

Altadena Nursery School, on Altadena Drive just North of Orange Grove in Pasadena, is a terrific parent co-op nursery school that starts kids at 2 years; they don't need to be potty trained. It's a half-day program. Don't know if that helps you enough, but all 3 of my kids went there and it's both excellent care, really developmentally stimulating in all the right ways, and really nurturing, for both the children and parents.

My grandkids go to Tinker Tots at 5743 E Huntington Dr N, Los Angeles, California 90032. The map calls it LA, but it's just off of Main, near the Target in Alhambra. They love it and are learning so much :)
