Some grocery store options: For acne, my husband still uses Neutrogena Acne Face Wash. He loves it. It's about $8.00 a bottle, and one bottle last him two months or more. I don't know about the testing, but he loves the product. As for preventing wrinkles, I don't know of any products, but my mother (71) and grandmother (94) swear by Ponds cold cream at night. I know everyone always comments on how they don't look close to their age. I have very sensitive skin and have not had problems with these products, also I haven't had any problems with Olay products.

I have a friend that sells arbonne its a health and wellness company and I think you would be happy with the product. The products are botancially-based, pH correct, Hypoallergenic, Dermatologist-tested, the don't test it on animals and it doesn't have any animal products in them. It also has no dyes or chemical fragances, and no mineral oils. I think you should try it out ecspecially the wrinkle cream it's awesome. I have sensitive skin and have used this for more than 5 years. I'm 36 and no one believes it, they say I look 25. It could also be my genes, but this certainly has helped, especially with my dry/oily combination skin.

The best place to buy the eucerin is from bed bath and beyond with the 20% coupon. For me, the bottle lasts 6 months.

For your daughter, I would recommend what my 15 year old baby sister uses, witch hazel. We found this last year in London and it was amazing to watch it work on her acne. There is a lady named Paula Begoun who does consumer reports for cosmetics. Her website (cosmeticscop.com) also mentions books you can find at Barnes and Noble, etc. One is called Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me! It rates (by using research from scientists, studying medical journals, etc.) everything from the cheap stuff you get at Walmart to the expensive stuff in salons or fancy department stores to the stuff you see on infomercials.

She also has a line of facial products that are reasonably priced and last a long time. (She had sensitive skin prone to breakouts, so she had to design her own line of cosmetics for herself.) She even includes ratings and comments others have made about her products. I find her to be informed and fair. If you get her free newsletter, you also get notices of sales and recent consumer reports. She has bulletins that cost money to receive, but she has free ones, too. She has saved me tons of money by keeping me from falling prey to advertisements of products that are all hype or ones that are just the wrong type for my skin.

I use a lot of different products, but almost all of the time I check the product out with her website or books before I buy.

I've always have used clean and clear since highschool. Everytime I try something else, I always go back to old faithful clean and clear. and it is affordable. As for anti aging. I've always used Olay and I have used Arbonne which does work. But I have gone back to olay because I think my face did look better when I used it. The Total Effects line is what I like. There are always coupons in the paper and Walgreens and CVS has sales on it here and there.

I've had the best luck with Aveda for Sensitive Skin. They also have an acne line for your daughter.

For you -- I would try the Mary Kay or Arbonne lines. The Arbonne line is by far superior but is a little pricey. However, the products last FOREVER! I have used it for over a year and it has improved the texture of my face and keeps my acne at bay.

For your daughter, it may just be a hit and miss method to find what works best for her skin type and the type of acne she has. ProActive is a little harsh on the skin but can work really really well if you just have mild acne. If you can swing it though, Arbonne has an acne line that actually works out cheaper than even the Wally acne stuff because it lasts so long. It's just more up front but it will last 6 months.

Hope this helps! Oh -- with both of these lines, I would buy from a consultant not directly from the websites as they can give you samples and it is easier to return products if there is a problem.

I would look into the Mychelle skin care line that is sold at Sprouts, Central Market, and Whole Foods. It is natural, environmentally friendly and not tested on animals. It is also a product line that does not have many harmful chemical and additives that most cosmetic lines have. Those ingredients may be impacting your daughter's skin. Also the packaging is EF, and they don"t have the false bottoms,large lids etc. You can read about the products at their website online. The products are held to the stringent European Union standards, and I have been very happy with the result for my skin. They sell a sampler set so you can try the whole line without a big expense. Also if you look on the shelves, there may be a booklet about the line or skincare in general. Good luck!

I've personally used many skincare products and FINALLY found some that work on wrinkles and on acne. I, like you, looked for environmentally friendly products also. The one that worked for me is based on your skincard concern, where you cleanse, tone, and moisturize in the a.m. and p.m. (the times you wash you normally wash your face!). The skin activator decolletage cream works specifically on wrinkles and the multivitamin eye gel works great around the eyes to reduce dark circles and puffiness. Another vote for Mary Kay! Their acne treatment gel and facial cleansing soap helped my oldest son with his severe acne when nothing else we tried helped much.(doctors, medication, etc.)
They also have excellent anti-wrinkle products that are hypoallergenic and not tested on animals. They are very economical to use in the long run, because a little bit goes a long way. Also you can try them before you buy them and return the products if you don't like them. A rep can come to your house and demonstrate everything to you and your daughter

I like the Boots brand of skin care sold at Target and it fits your criteria.

Most affordable thing I can think of for wrinkles is almond oil. Usually easy to find at Whole Foods. I've been getting Now! brand that is food grade even though it's found in the beauty section. I think it's 7.99 or 8.99 for a shampoo size bottle (24 oz?). I typically use it after a shower rather than shower oil. It has no scent for humans. If you have a dog you will have to train it not to lick you. Apricot Kernel oil is nice, too, but I have better plumping results from the almond oil. The almond oil makes that neck wrinkle or crease thing disappear. Doesn't go away with the apricot kernel oil.

Your daughter's acne. I had good luck with the sensitive version of Clean and Clear, but I haven't been a teen for 12 years now so it may not be "cool". Noxzema markets heavily toward teens, too. There are usually knock off store brands of their stuff.

Since you would like to be more environmental, Well In Hand Herbals has Zero Zitz. It worked better than drugstore products without that dry, tight face feeling... but I usually have to order it online now. I think the products are vegan, too. Used to get it at The Cupboard when I lived in Denton.

Blackheads usually go away with good cleaning routine, but a good scrub should speed things up. St Ives Apricot Scrub is affordable and can last with judicious use. The Wal Mart copy stings me. There is probably an online facial scrub recipe using oatmeal, nori, or something earth friendly to create a good scrub.

Pimple emergencies. To dry it out, use a dab of toothpaste (not the gel kind). If it's the weekend or you will be home for the evening, use Neosporin or your earth friendly tea-tree equivalent. This brings the pimple to a head and fights the infection so it goes away for good.

If she can't resist popping it, there is a tool at Whole Foods made of surgical steel shaped to do the trick without breaking the skin like fingernails will. I think the directions said to use a warm compress first. I can't remember the brand now.

If she is getting pimples in certain areas, make sure she is not touching her face there.

I am with little time so hope this straight forward advice is okay-please disregard if you do not want. :)

As for the wrinkles - remember - wrinkles are not caused just by getting older but by the gathering of dead skin cells permanently stretching the skin. AND never ever rub your eyes (like a tired child).

I would recommend this practice: apply a moisture wrap to your face - warm water soaked towel for ten minutes or run water over your face while you shower then apply a gentle soap to exfoliate your skin. Use a gentle fabric/pad in small circles over your entire face -especially around the mouth, between the brows, and outside corners of eyes. (Free except for soap and pad)

Once, twice a month whenever you feel your skin is not as soft or thickening on your face. Be very careful around the eyes.

I use a scrub glove that is gentle.

Then rinse with lots of water, then pat - never rub or pull downward - dry and moisturize a lot. (A good Moisturizer could cost $16 - $100's of dollars.

My sweet sister and I have the same skin. She rubs her eyes and I do not. She is wrinkled around the eyes and I am not. We are over 40. (Don't tell anyone!:) Oh! She is more successful than I am and is well deserving of her lines. OOhugOO

As for your daughter, Proactive has a blemish mask that really is fantastic for the breakouts. What they advertise for the mask really worked for my teen. ($26)
Our doctor recommended a soap from the pharmacy-over the counter called: Cedaphil ($9) or something (sorry can't remember exactly). Comes in bar or lotion. Worked for my daughter through those really tough times.
An astringent/freshener to close her pores and balance PH and then moisturize to keep the skin soft.
Proactive as a complete set bleached my daughter's skin and made her look so pale. We tried Mary Kay and clinique but she was too sensitive.
Those in store foundations are way too perfumey and heavy for a teen - just an fyi.

I am going to completely agree with the previous poster on the Arbonne lines. I began using them about two years ago, after my son was born. My face broke out- worse than it ever was in high school!!! I tried all acne lines (from the most expensive stuff at Neiman Marcus to cheap stuff at walmart) nothing worked! I tried the acne line from Arbonne and that didn't work (my face is really sensitive and the acne lines dried my face way too much) I tried their other line- Intelligence- which is formulated to adapt to your skin type. I think the best product for the money is Avon.... they have some fantastic acne stuff for teens and adults. Remember that no matter what you try to only use it on a small portion of your face, because it could cause a worse breakout if you or your daughter has a reaction to it. Good luck!

I am a Clinique fan. I have used it since I was a preteen. I am 47 now and still pass for early 30's. The line I am using now is the Repairwear series by Clinique. I don't know the cost of the products.....I buy about once a year.

My 14 yr old also uses Clinique. They have an acne wash that seems pretty good. They also have an acne spot treatment that daughter uses when she gets a zit.

As for daughter's skin, when she started goint through puberty around 11, I took a proactive approach and we went to Dr. Allen Menter. He is a great Dr and his PA's are very good as well. Daughter uses an Rx called Duac daily that prevents breakouts. Thankfully, she has never had a real issue but we belive it is the proavtice approach we took. She is very faithful with her skin care.

Depends on what "affordable" is to you. I highly recommend Mary Kay; it is environmentally friendly and does not test on animals. The skin care line is fantastic, and they have a special line specifically for teens. My skin has improved dramatically since using MK; while it's more expensive than something you would find at wal-mart or target, it's well worth the money because the quality is so much better. And, it's cheaper than Arbonne (even with the wholesale discount, I know because I used it for awhile; Arbonne is a great product, but I like MK just as well and it's more affordable-no I don't sell MK, I just love the product). It's also cheaper than Clinique, or any other department store type line, and you can return anything you don't like, no questions asked so it's a no risk option.

My husband used to get acne really badly on his back. Ever since I started making my own soap, his skin has cleared up tremendously. There are no chemicals in my soap, just good oils that help your skin. I will tell you, it takes a little bit longer to clear it up since you are not putting those chemicals on the acne but it is much better for your skin. I love Avon! I don't sell it, but just go to the local Avon store. They have some great acne products that have worked for me. Their prices are great too!

I think the Shaklee line is a great suggestion. Try to find products that are natural. They may be a bit higher in price but you need only a small amount and they last a long time. I struggled (still do sometimes!) with acne since age 11, now I'm 30! The biggest thing I changed that helped my skin was my diet. I read an article about conventional milk (which I drank a ton of) and how bad all of the hormones in it were for your skin. I switched to organic milk and now barely drink it at all except in my cereal (which even then I use rice milk instead) and it has helped me SOOOOOO much. I have tried pretty much every acne product (including proactive, big rip off imo) and none of them worked as much as a diet change. Drink mainly water, sodas only on rare ocassions, etc. Try to only buy organic dairy products and especially only organic milk. Give it 2-3 months and see if you see a change and I bet you will. Good luck, acne bites the big one - I hate it!!
