I truly feel that Mamapedia not only provides a practical source of experienced information when it is needed, but replaces what our grandmothers had - their own mother or other women in the tribe, the village, the neighborhood to interact with and seek advice from. It is priceless to have adult conversation when you spend your days with preschoolers, little boys who never tire of finding humor in bodily noises, and teenagers whose moods teeter constantly on what their friends are saying about them.

Mothers give so much and often feel little support. I did not have anything like Mamapedia when I needed it. I check the posts most mornings and often start my day tossing in my own experiences if I feel they are helpful. I just feel that there are not enough grandma-aged women available to support our mothers today. But, to be honest, my greatest motive is not to simply support and assist mothers. I really do it for the sake of the children. Unsupported mothers are hard on children and in today's world, kids can use all the help they can get.

I love Mampedia and I love all you mom's that use it and take the time to answer. I feel most of us really are in it for the kiddos.

Ha! Me too! So I have to limit myself - fifteen minutes. And sometimes I take a week or two off entirely. I do the same thing with FB and television. If they're becoming too important, I turn my back on them and do the things that really are important. It's amazing how much time I have when I get off the computer (...which I'm going to do right now)!

I've been on and off again of this site for the past 3 years. It has been a lifesaver and at times, an addiction.

What a great place to find other people going through what we are at the same time! It is also a chance to "talk" to other adult people about things that interest us (even if it is about poop).

Whenever I have that question of, "I wonder what other moms do about this." I come on here. I can't really ask about potty training on FB! Lol!

As others have posted, if it is fulfilling us and not taking away from our lives, why not? There are far worse things to do (or not do) with our time!

I'm addicted too but not really willing to admit it. I do take a break on the weekends. So I guess all is not lost. I love this site.

An addiction is a dependence. According to dictionary.com: –noun
the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma.

Here is the thing. We feel guilty if we are not productive constantly. That's been taught to most of us. If you are enjoying mamapedia and it is not hurting anyone then have fun!

So....... are you really addicted? If so, mamapedia is impinging on your lifestyle......

Can you get what you need to done? Are your children well taken care of? If so, then enjoy your time on mamapedia. You may be making a real difference for someone! If you really think you are on too much then make yourself a schedule and allow time limits. One hour per day.....?

Is this really causing a problem in your life or relationships? If not, don't worry about it and enjoy the time you spend reading about other people and giving your advice.
