O.O.
She'll be OK.
She wouldn't have finished it if it tasted nasty. Although I can't even imagine the disgusting warmth of day old milk {{shudder}}.
I left a glass of milk on the kitchen table from last night's dinner, so it's about 24 hours old. Gross, I know, but I didn't get that one in the sink last night before bed. I was helping my other daughter with her spelling words in the other room, and as I came back into the kitchen, she was just finishing the glass of old milk. There was maybe about 2oz in the glass (maybe a bit less actually). I'm worried that she'll be sick - diarrhea or vomiting??? Anyone experience this (I'm sure I'm not alone here - I hope not, or I'll feel horrible!)? Anything I can do, or just wait it out? Or possibly nothing will come of it... Input is appreciated. And yes, that glass of milk, and any other dirty dishes have since been thrown into the sink and are on their way to the dishwasher!
Thanks for responding so far! Worried mamma over here, but not as much with your insights. Thanks for reassuring me.

It's fine. You make buttermilk by letting milk sit at room temperature for 24-36 hours after adding buttermilk to it. You make creme fraiche by letting cream sit out after adding buttermilk to it as well.
She'll be fine.
About 25 years ago, I was cleaning behind my daughter's crib and found a nasty, old bottle (the bag kind) with rotten, black and green, yuck...did not even resemble milk anymore, I placed it behind me as I reached for more toys and stuff. At the same time she crawled into the room, grabbed that old bottle, and started sucking that stuff down. She never got sick, or diarrhea. And she stayed healthy.
And just last month, I made chocolate pudding for the kids and didn't realize my son had left the gallon of milk out one night. I thought he had taken it out in the morning. And the pudding tasted a bit funny, but I had a bad sinus infection / cold thing going so thought it was just my stuffed up nose, and I made the kids eat a little bowl even though they complained it was sour tasting and I was convinced it was because I used a new dark chocolate .....anyway, I figured it out when I poured some of that milk into my tea and it was all curdled. Yep, we're all good.
Our stomach acid is quite a life saver!
probably fine.

I think she will be fine. My daughter did the same thing when she was about that age with a cup of chocolate milk that she had put on her brother's bookshelf. I had no idea how long it had been there honestly, but she sat it there, remembered it some time later (overnight at least), went back, and started to chug it down. The only thing that stopped her was her brother screaming "GROSS!". She was fine.
Not going to hurt her at all! Even spoiled milk (which this is not) wouldn't harm her. It would taste disgusting!!! But it would cause her body no harm whatsoever.
I think the taste is possibly worse than the symptoms, which aren't always sickness... although, yes she could get sick too.. of course, it's the fever in any child that you have to watch if she gets one.. otherwise, gotta say, as a child of the 70s... when WARNING labels weren't quite as prevalent or obvious as they are now... I think many of us probably drank sour milk ... also, depending upon the milk you buy, some are pasteurized at such a high heat, the shelf-life is much longer even when it sits out. granted, I wouldn't want to drink it, but some do... she ll probably be ok.. just keep an eye on her..
my best to you
It probably won't hurt her any. Just keep an eye on her.
Well, better that she get it over with if she's going to be sick. I wouldn't worry too much about it since there's nothing you can do in the meantime. Maybe have her eat yogurt for the probiotics.
Guessing your little one is well since this was posted yesterday :)
Just keep an eye out for food poisoning, the stomach cramps, diarrhea and vomiting you mention. If she spiked a fever .. that would be a concern.
We've drunk milk that has expired .. and been fine. But yes, just keep an eye out. I always keep an eye out on the poop (I know that sounds gross) but if anything did happen, it will show up in the poop.
We've all been there ... with me my eldest would tuck bottles away for later ...
Good luck :)
