My 3 month old son just screams and screams when he is with his dad. My husband really wants to do things with him, but he cries so much. I have no idea what to do. Any ideas are welcome.

Do you think it may be a matter of dad developing more confidence in caring for the baby? Babies seem to be able to sense when someone is a novice--tell dad to act confidently (even if he doesn't FEEL confident!). Leave your husband alone with the baby and they will both deal with it. In time your husband will find his own ways of doing things with his son. No truer words: "Dads do things a little differently." You might have to look away a bit. LOL Good luck! And congrats on your new baby.

try to have him spend more time with dad. Also, are you breastfeeding? If you are, then more reason to leave them alone for a little while. Baby can still smell your milk, and also your other familiar smells, and since he is used to being home with you during the day, he is not as familiar with dad. Have him give him his bottles if you are bottle feeding and/or pumping, and have him give baths when possible and stuff like that.
He's still little, so wanting his mommy is normal! He just needs to get used to daddy as well!

I wonder if your husband is accidentally scaring him. My youngest daughter would be perfectally fine all day, then would scream when her dad came home. We also couldn't figure out why, until one day my brother came just before her dad did, and she also started crying. We then figured out it was their voices. They were just naturally loud compared to me and what she heard during the day. She eventually got used to it and stopped one day. Hope this helps.

Hi L. M,

Denise P said the right thing. Little people (your son's age) sense when the adult who is with them are scare or do not have confident in themselves to take care of the little people. Your son know you can handle anything but he is not sure about daddy. Let daddy and son have their time together with you around but you are not in control.

Are you nursing? Maybe daddy doesn't smell like breast milk!! LOL! If you stay at home with your son you probably know exactly how he likes to be held, soothed etc and maybe Daddy just does it differently. I would say that daddy should just keep going and try to be involved in as much of the care as possible like bathing, diapers, feeding etc. Poor thing.

Hi L.,
3 Months is young usually anyone who is very loving they go to. But maybe your boy is more developed and is developing seperation anxiety.
I think you need to bee out of your home when his dad takes over this way dad will have to deal with crys.Give it time and patienceotherwise you will be attached at the hip and will not be able to leave especially when you will need some time to yourself.
I am usually a believer in not letting babies cry too much but you must remember he will be with someone who loves him. Also when you are together juggle the baby back and forth between the 2 of you.
I bottlefes my son so we shared te feeding experience If you breastfeed maybe your husband can staynear and let the baby hear his voice.Keep working on it but you have toalway it,somme new moms love all the attention from the baby and realize it too late, when the baby is one that they can not get a minutes time alone.
Good luck
