3 Month Old?

I have a 3 month old boy. He is a big boy. He weighs almost 20 pounds. My problem is what can I put him in? He is getting too big and bored sitting in a bouncer. When I put him in the bouncer he tries to pull himself up like to a sitting position. He cant sit on his own but he wants to be upright and moving most of the time. He can hold his head very very well. I know every child is different, but is he too young for an exersaucer or a jumper? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

What can I do next?

I would recommend a Bumbo seat. My daughter LOVED it at that age. She too was very bored sitting in the bouncer and was always wanting something new. It is a foam type of seat that will hold the baby that can't sit upright. They even have a tray that fits on the seat so you can put a toy on it or even use it as a feeding seat when the time comes. I paid $39.00 for mine at Target and they come in a wide array of colors. It is a little costly but you can use it for up to 36 months. I hope this helps and good luck!

Hi! I have had 6 kids and I always put them in a entertainer at around 3 mo. :-) I don't think he is too young. He will take a little while to get used to it but he probably will LOVE it! :-)

No, he's not too young! I have 3 boys and all of them were in a walker by the time they were 3 months. Here's the trick, even though they can hold they're heads well they need to develop their stomach muscles still so put blankets or pillows around him to keep him straight up in it. I also used the same trick with the jumper. Works great and makes the kids happy! Best wishes and God bless!

D., I have a daycare and if he is 3 months and sitting up and holding his head up go ahead and put him in an exersaucer but, tuck a baby blanket or a baby comforter around him to prevent him from falling forward or backward. whatever his comfort level or what makes him happy

My guys were (ok still are) big boys! If he can hold his head up try him in the johnny jumper or an exersaucer! You'll be able to tell when he's in if he's ready or not. Blessings ~ J.

Hi D.,

Congrats on your son! If he has good head control, you can absolutely put him in an exersaucer. You can also try one of those bumble chairs - he may really like that.

If he is doing all that is a bouncer put him inthe excersaucer. Mine were about the same age and loved the excersaucer. The age is just a recommendation if you feel he is ready put him in it andjust supervise him to be sure to be sure he does nto hurt himself.

I had both of my boys in an exersaucer at this age and mine were pretty small. Sometimes they slumped over but they were really happy!

Hi D.,

There is a wonderful product that I used with my son. It is called a BUMBO. It sits him upright and he can be more active and more aware of his surroundings.
They have them at Target.

D.,

If he can hold his head up, you could try a walker or jumper. I also suggest that you try a Bumbo seat (Babies R Us or Bumbo.com). They are little seats designed to help babies develop the muscles they need to sit up, while adequately supporting them, but they cannot get out of it on their own. Bumbo seats can be used from 3 months, as long as the baby can hold his head up.

My daughter loves hers, and I bought the tray to go with it for her toys. It's lightweight, too, so I move it all around the house - it's especially nice for a quick trip to the laundry room. We even took it on a weekend trip with us.

Hope this helps!

My daughter is 3 months old too and does the same thing... especially in her car seat. She literally strains her neck trying to sit up.

I recently started putting her in a johnny jump up that hangs from a door frame. She doesn't quite jump but will turn herself around in it. Also, she loves laying under one of those things that has dangling toys. Kids love to kick at toys at this stage.

Another thing you can try is a boppy behind him for support and recieving blankets infront of him to support him some.
My son was big like that and we did the bouncer with blankets behind him for support

You can put him in anything you think he would have fun in. I use to use recieving blankets for added support for all my girls. I even use to put them in there walker from the age of 2.5 months and just put a box under there feet for balance then the blankets. Have fun with him! Babies love new things and it is so much fun when there that little to see how they react to stuff. God Bless and have fun!! :)

A Bumbo!! I got one for my daughter and she LOVED it!! You can get them at walmart or target or any baby store I'm sure. The child sits up straight and it's for children 3 months and up. Good luck!!

he is too young for an exersaucer or jumper until her can hold his head up on his own without a problem. jumpers and exersaucers don't provide neck support. he can, however, use a swing (which often come with toys/entertainment attached) or for a baby mat/gym. belly time in a baby mat can help him to build neck and body strength as well.

good luck with your little guy.

I put my son in one of those PODS. They cannot get out of them and they are great for when you are cleaning in the same room or if you just want a break from holding them. They sell them at Target Walmart Toys R Us. I loved it...
