I was always always told that children speak when they are ready. My daughter started saying her first words early, around 5 or 6 months. I don't know if it is a coincidence or not but just keep listening to him you'll know.
When does a child typically say his first word?? Three days ago, my son, who will be 9 months in a week, looked directly at my husband and said "dada". It was very clear, and both of our jaws dropped to the floor. He jibberjabbers constantly, and he's been known to say dadadadadada at any time, even when my husband is not there. But this was 2 syllables and directed towards Tim. Could he really associate the word to my husband already, or is this just coincidence that he jibberjabbered the right word at the right time??

absolutley not both of my children spoke at about 9 moths and there very first word was dada when a mother talks to a child the father is always mentioned like the mother will say wheres daddy or daddy this and daddy that so a child that young can't say daddy there fore they refer to him as dada completely normal not jibberjabber you would be suprized oh the fun of language is yet to begin
My 6th month old has said mum since 4 months and only says dada when i don't give her own way lol
No, I don't think that it is coincidence at all! My daughter started to associate me with being "mum mum" around that age. She is now 19 months old and still calls me mum mum!
