My 19 months old babies are climbing out of the crib and I had my husband put up the toddler beds but one has the little bars on the side but the other doesn’t have the bars and I have hardwood floors and what I need to know is do I need to buy some pillow to put on the floor in case they fall out?

What can I do next?

Can you put the beds together so one's against the wall and the one with the rails is on the outside? Or, what we did with our girls is we just put the matresses on the floor until they got a bit bigger. Or, you could do as you asked and just put some blankets or what not on the floor to cushion a fall somewhat. Our kids have only fallen out of bed maybe twice. I guess it's kind of a chance ya have to take. The easiest for us though was the matresses straight on the floor. They make rails for bigger beds. They probably have them for toddler beds I would think.

M., sorry about your loss. I will keep you in my prayers! Those mesh rails are awesome. Good luck. B.

You can buy a mesh railing at about any store. They have an adjustable length too. I have also used this for my daughter when she went into a twin bed. She moves so much in her sleep still that she would fall out without it. They are very comfy too. My 4 y.o. ends up with her head squished against it all the time.

You know those long body pillows? I slept with one while pregnant, and later discovred quite by accident that it's the exact length of a toddler bed. I shoved it a little bit underneath the frame so most of the pillow was sticking out on the floor along the length of the bed. Voila! Perfect pillow in case my son fell out of the bed (which he never did). :)

I got two shag bath rugs at walmart to put under the outside of my daughter's toddler bed when she was small. Pillows would just be a trip hazard since they would slide across the floor if they stepped on them getting in and out of bed. The fall from a toddler bed wouldn't be too serious if they just rolled out in their sleep, so the rug would just be a softer landing. Or they have net safety rails that you can add to a toddler bed that doesn't have them that just slide under the mattress. I think you can get those at walmart or Kmart too.

Most baby stores have safety bars for toddler beds. I would suggest purchasing a safety bar for the second bed.

You can go buy a safety bar set for the bed that doesn't have them. also, you can get a little area rug and put it near the beds where they might fall out if you are worried.
I have no idea how your furniture is arranged but you might have to get only one area rug, or 2 runner types....
just remember to continue to be wary of windows and cords for drapes/blinds and don't put the beds near them. I think the risks associated with windows and drapery cords are greater than if they fall out of bed, especially if it is a low toddler bed. With a little carpet, they should be fine.
