If you have a choice, go with Huntington. They have a higher level NICU, (just in case). Several of my friends delivered there and the staff was GREAT!
I will be delivering my first baby in early Feb, 2010.
What hospital is better or does anyone have any comments about Arcadia Methodist and the Pasadena Huntington Hospitals?
Please help, I live close by the Methodist, but I heard better things about the Huntington.
Thanks!
Thanks everybody! I will be touring both hospitals. I rather go the the Methodist since it's closer to me (in case my hubby needs to run back and get something).

I had all three of my kids at Methodist...a ong time ago... my oldest is almost 26...
I loved Methodist, it is cozy & quiet. I had a wonderful experience.
Huntington is much busier. I remember visiting a friend in Maternity and their were gurneys in the hallways due to lack of space. They have been building over there since then however. If you are having a high risk pregnancy it is my opinion that Huntington is better.
Have you taken a tour of the two facilities?
That is probably the best way to find out what they offer.
Hi M.. My sister-in-law delivered my nephew at Huntington and she swears by her doctor and staff there. I've heard also that it's one of the best. However, my advise is to get an appointment to tour the maternity ward in both hospitals so you can get a feel of the place. In the end, you'd want to go by where you're comfortable. Also, make sure your current OB-GYN can deliver at these hospitals. Anyway, if it were me, I'd probably go to Huntington.
Good luck!
check MY other postings/responses and you will find details on a question just like this that i answered to. I vote for Huntington.
Hi M.-
I delivered at Methodist and had a great experience. Parking is way easier, the hospital itself seems more down to earth and approachable, which I appreciated (didn't need any extra chaos). Did you take the tours? You can take the tours which might help. Also, my understanding was that Arcadia Methodist was more comfortable with supporting "natural" childbirth and birth plans (of course this depends on your doctor too). This was important to us and I felt that I had excellent nursing staff who supported my desires. Also at the time they had great lactation consultants but Huntington does as well. My understanding was that Huntington might be a bit more rigid than Methodist. For example we brought in food for me to eat during labor, and no one questioned us.
Good luck!
If you take the tours it should give you a better idea.
I've attended many births at both hospitals and I like Huntington better for my clients who want a more natural labor and birth. My only complaint about Huntington is that the partner is not allowed into the nursery if the baby has to go there ... but on the plus side, they have full rooming in, so you don't have to allow the baby to go to the nursery.
But Arcadia Methodist is trying hard to be mother-friendly and is improving in order to compete with Huntington :)
Happy Birthing :)
