Seeking Ideas for My 8Yr Old Daughter

My 8yr old daughter is enjoying science in school. This is a good thing as she struggles in math, so this may actually help her in the long run. My question is that I am trying to find some outside activities related to science for her to be involved with. She in particular likes rocks and earth science. She says no one at school does and she does not want the kids to think she is wierd. I want to embrace this new interest. Does anyone have any ideas for some after school or weekend science activities? interes I guess I should...

11 Year Old Son Trouble Following Instructions

I have a 11 year old son who has trouble following instructions in school & home. He isn't hyper at all so I know that ADHD is out of the question but he does have trouble staying focused and on task. He teachers are concern, doesn't turn in his homework, forgets to take down lessons, his constant response is "I forgot"; I constantly have to ride him if he has & now it's to where he says no & than the teacher emails me & informs he is not turning his work in. The few times he does remembers his homework I know he does his homework...

First Ob/gyn Appt...

Well, I had my first ob appt. :) Everything went pretty well. They did an internal ultrasound, so we got to see the baby (aka our little blob with a heartbeat - lol) and got to hear his/her heart beating furiously... So cute. Of course, I had to endure hearing the laundry list of devastating things that could go wrong, what with me being of advanced maternal age and all (I'm 38). Plus I had pre-eclampsia late in my last pregnancy. So I'm high risk all over the place. But I feel good, so we'll just keep thinking happy thoughts. ...

Partial Hysterectomy vs Not? (For Fibroid Pain)

I am 46 and being advised by GYN to have a partial hysterectomy (removal of everything with exception of ovaries so you can maintain hormones). I have been having severe fibroid pain for the past six months. This month I am pain free and just wondering if I cured myself; I have been taking apple cider vinegar (2 tbsp daily) for a couple of months now. Has anyone -- I know this sounds far fetched experienced anything similar. Many thanks!

Homework with a Bad Attitude

My 8 yr old son was just recently diagnosed with ADHD. He is a very bright, intellegent kid. It's just really hard to keep him focused. The meds have made a big difference at school, but here at home not too much. Homework time is horrible for me, it takes hours for 4 - 6 pages to get done. He knows how to do it, but just can't sit long enough or when he does sit, he plays with the pencil or anything other than getting the homework done. He gets really upset when I ask him if he's done. I only ask him because at this point I see him...
