You Any One Else's Day Starting Out Terribly?

My son was uncooperative. My husband at the last minute couldn't take them to daycare (rare, but annoying for today). My dog got sick in the floor last night and I was first up and first to find it (luckily not by stepping in it), I dropped my coffee and it went everywhere (under the table, under the couch), I was late for work....so nothing serious, but a bunch of little things that have not set my mood for a good start to the work day. I guess I need to look at the positive. I got to spend more time with my kids. I did not step in the dogs mess. My boss still isn't here, so she is way later than I was. Ok, I feel a little better. Anyone else?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you guys. I was trying but struggling to keep things in perspective. Some of you sound like you are right there with me and I am sorry, others made me laugh a little at your humor in the situations and others just cheered me up. Now for the rest of my day. No my day could not only go up, nor did it reset at noon or if it did it reset in the same mode. I just got back from having to take my husband to Urgent Care, he apparently broke a bone in his foot or has a bone bruise. The x-ray was not conclusive so they are sending it to the digital imagining place for a better look. He has been training for his first 50 mile race that was to be in 2 weeks. Ugh.. feel bad for him. Then I skipped on my diet (down 4 lbs) and got a chicken sandwhich and Dr. Pepper after his appointment. I took one drink of the water that I was given. Very disappointing.

On a positive note. We have health insurance. It isn't life threatening. I have a job with the flexibility that allows me to leave and come back. The water would have been better for me had I drank it, but I wanted a Dr. Pepper and ended up still getting one out of the machine at work. Plus I got to spend a few extra minutes with my husband.

That was my day yesterday. My son, 17, just got his car, but forgot to renew his dl. So since the car had out of state plates, no TX inspection and no proof of ins yet, I thought it best I drive it. I had put my work stuff in the trunk the night before. When I got in it, there was NO gas! I thought well I will just take my car. NO keys! At that point already 15 min late to meet client.
Had to take the other car and stop for gas. No idea how to open the cap. Beg for help. Thirty min late to appointment.
Then leaving for next one. The car will not shift into reverse . Finally get it in gear. Next appointment. Leaving this time, it absolutely will not shift into reverse. Beg men in parking lot for help. Won't shift for them either. Push it out of parking space. Drive to mechanic who had inspected it for us. Shifts into reverse on his first try.
But compared to the year I have had, piece of cake!

That was yesterday for me. My niece took my car to drive my MIL to a doctor appointment 30 minutes away, the car broke down. I had to have it towed. She had her younger brother and sister with her and I had no car to go get them. I have a nanny who watches my 2 kids and I tried to call her to ask her to pick up my niece, MIL and the two young ones but I couldn't get in touch with her because her cell phone battery was dead. I eventually was able to reach her through my son's reading tutor! I didn't get much done at work yesterday afternoon as I coordinated all of this over the phone, but eventually everyone got a ride home!

Thanks for your post! I was tempted to post a plea for help, hugs, and motivation. Feeling very overwhelmed today and want to cry.

The baby got up too early. Put her at the table to eat and it took me awhile to notice how much milk she drank from her sippy. Nope. The seal on the sippy wasn't in all the way and she was wearing it. She didn't complain, but she was soaked. Got her cleaned up and changed. Then I was holding her and got up and spilled my chai all over my calendar and all my post-it notes that have all my house information on it. She then wanted to go back to bed (so do I) after being up for an hour. So now, both kids are sleeping and I'm sitting in a ridiculous mess of a house.

Did I mention we are moving out of state in 3 weeks and I don't know where we are going to move to yet? I can't find but 3 houses for rent that seem decent and in our budget and I'm questioning them. Since we've started packing my hubby thinks the house is ok to be a big 'ol mess. I can't take it and will have to clean it today. I don't think it is safe to have that many toys and misc. items on the floor.

Oh, and I'm still trying to get over a sinus infection I've had for a month. The antibiotics I took 2 weeks ago have caused break-through bleeding and I've been dealing with that for 19 days with bad cramping and bleeding. My OB has me doubling up on my pills, but it still hasn't stopped or relieved it (since yesterday).

Ok, that helped a little. I'm not one to sit back and complain or whine, but I think I may have hit my breaking point this morning. Thanks for "listening." I have work to do now before the next kiddo wakes up.

Have a wonderful day mamas! It is still the best job in the world.

I got my hair cut yesterday. The lady didn't give me the cut I asked for and didn't bother to tell me how to fix it. So when I tried to fix it this am, it looked ridiculous. Stupid bangs.....Then, my 2 year old didn't want to go to daycare and had a full on fit just inside the front door of his school, complete with hitting me and rolling around like he was possessed. I did get them both to their classes safely, my 4 year old held my hand and told me he loved me, my husband told me my hair looked great and I was overreacting, and I made it to work at 7:58. All in all, it could have been worse.

Thank you for this. I had a LOUSY morning, but reading all these posts made me feel beter - put everything in perspective.

For me just a fussy daughter and a stressed mommy. Thursdays are the one day my husband has to go to work in the city, so he's all stressed out and unable to help get her ready, and I have a 9 AM phone conference that I almost always end up taking in the car because we can't get moving quickly. And I yelled at her over a little thing in the end, because she was just taking SO LONG.

We get to daycare and she starts crying she's tired and sick and wants to go home and sleep. I decide to let her do it, because she hasn't slept well since the weekend (fireworks right down the street), and I know she's super over tired. She popped up after 15 or 20 minutes saying "ready to go!" and I thought - fabulous, it worked, reset! But when we got there she started crying and clinging to me. Been months and months since she's done that. Ended up leaving feeling awful.

BUT:
-I have a job I like, and I get to work home from Thursdays.
-She normally LOVES daycare, so I know this is an anomoly
-I can take conference calls on my headset from anywhere, so I got to drive back and forth 2x without bailing on work.
-I'm now home and she's there and nobody is the wiser about how crazy my morning was! (except all of you!)
Not to mention, I didn't step in any dog cat or other vomit. My car did not break down (as it has 187K miles, this is actually a blessing), nobody is sick (unlike most of the last 2 weeks) - AND I get to swim for lunch (working from home=pool!)

Instead of looking at your glass as half empty....as you have said...look at it as half full...You had the ability to get your son to day care...even though your husband couldn't do it himself....you son was healthy and able to go to daycare..and you have a job to be late too!!! :-)
As you say...you did NOT discover the dogs "gift" by stepping in it...( I have done that first thing in the morning before...yeach yeach YEACH!! )....and it sounds like didn't spill the coffee on yourself.
Now go have a better rest of the day...sounds like it can go no where but UP!!!!
Happy Thursday to you!!

Yep... each morning I need to spend about 10-15 minutes in the bathroom to get myself ready for work, and it seems like my husband and four-year-old daughter must have some kind of radar, because the minute I get up and enter the bathroom, one or both of them suddenly MUST use the bathroom RIGHT NOW. And we only have one bathroom in our house. Today it was both of them. So, because I couldn't get ready on time, I ended up gulping down my breakfast and rushing out of the house in a lousy mood (I'm not a morning person, so it doesn't take too much to irritate me first thing in the morning, aargh). As for the vomiting pet stories, it didn't happen today, but I've had plenty of mornings when I've woken up and had to clean up after one of our cats while still half asleep!

YESTERDAY was 'baby terror day'... today has been quite pleasant!! He's watching Blues Clues and singing and dancing and running around in Batman PJs looking adorable, being very affectionate (for once!) and trying to use a spoon on dry cereal (bless his little heart!)...

Sorry to hear you're having a bad day! Just tell yourself that the day restarts itself at noon... just roll with the punches until then, and at noon, remind yourself that nothing else will bother you because you got it all out of the way this morning ;)
