A.G.
I hate to cook.
My husband and oldest son love to cook. They especially love cooking soups and pastas; they just thow in all kinds of ingredients that sound good. Usually it tastes delicious!
I live to cook for my family! One of the best things I've been able to do since becoming a SAHD last year!! Before I was the BBQ King - but now? I'm liking fixing meals!! UH OH!! I think I'm domesticated!!!
I saw the post about the mamapedia cookbook, but think it's too late to add some of my favorites.
I like to fix enchiladas - nothing elaborate - but mixing all the flavors together are fun!! My daughter's like to help me cook as well - we've had some "OOPS!" by putting too much of a spice in things, but overall, when the wife comes home, she likes the aromas and feels welcomed home.
What's your favorite meal to fix for your family?

My husband only knew how to cook mac n cheese... from a box. I have always cooked from scratch and he didn't want to learn. Then a few years back we opened a small cafe and he jumped right in and I showed him all of the tricks I had on cooking. Now I hate to admit it but I think he is a better cook than I am! He loves to play with spices.. mix and match a little of this and a little of that and it usually turns out better than mine.
I usually feel bad because he works all day then comes home and cooks dinner also. But before I can even gets "what sounds good" he is in the kitchen putting something together on the days that I don't already have it going when he get home. He loves it and I do the dishes.. thats the part he hates. So I guess its a win win.
His specialty is bbq ribs. He has his own rub he puts on ( wont share what all is in it with me lol) and makes his own bbq sauce from scratch ( again wont share). He usually puts the rub on it the night before and lets it marinatein the fridge over nite, I put it in the broaster on low to cook all day then he comes home and makes the sauce to put on it.
Mine is chiken alfredo from scratch.
Both hubs and I like to cook. We like the time in the kitchen together, but that isn't a reality. We might get to cook together once a week if we're lucky.
We do spend one day every 4-6 weeks to prep/cook several meals to freeze. We make several lasagnas, meatloaves, porcupine meatballs, and chicken enchiladas in serving sizes of 2-3 for our little family of 4. That helps make nightly dinners easy for when I work 3 evenings a week.
Come better weather, we'll have porkchops and chicken on the grill, lots of summer squash, and roasted potatoes. Yummmm.
Could you wait till Troy gets home this is more his area.
I cook Sicilian, I am a one trick pony. :)
My favorites I love to make are pesto pasta with lots of veggies and grilled salmon, chicken parmesan with mixed greens and homemade lemon dressing, enchiladas, crab cakes, fish tacos, green chile stew, curries, a marinated pork loin with some yummy sides. OK, now I'm hungry again.
I love to cook too! I watch a lot of cooking shows on the foodnetwork channel. I get a lot of yummy recipes from those chefs. :-) I don't really just have one. I have a few: Roasted Chicken, Chicken and Dumplings, Roasted Shrimp Salad, Fried Chicken with homemade mashed tators, Roasted Zucchini, and we just tried the new Philadelphia Cream stuff that they just came out with to add to your meat and veggie dishes....and it is soooo good! Onion Chicken made from the French's Fried Onions,....oh and I have been trying my hand at homemade pies with homemade crusts and WOW...DeeeLISH! I'm always trying new recipes. I love cooking!
I am definitely not a master at BBQ, however I LOVE BBQ! We have a restaurant here in Arizona where I'm from that's called Famous Dave's BBQ! Absolutely mouth watering GOOD!
I don't have just one! My men love stuffed bell peppers, Mexican food...
my husband doesn't like Sweet and Sour pork but my boys do!!
They love my eclairs!!
mmmm, all this talk about food is making me hungry! I'm stuck in bed with the stomach flu and have been living off of saltines and ginger ale the last 2 days. I'm starving! some of our favorites are chicken baked with sun dried tomatoes, home made chicken taquitos, and my daughter loves chicken noodle casserole
Right now my "go-to" meals are things that are easy (busy w/toddler):
Tacos
Rotisserie chicken w/veggies
Stoufers Lasagna
Hamburgers
Burritos
steak, red potatoes, salad, bread
baked chicken w/veggies (making right now)
Hubby makes:
ribs
homemade chicken soup
You go dad!
You big show off, I'm not even domesticated yet ;)
I loooove Mexican, so I'm always making it ....chile verde w/beans, spanish rice and torts, enchiladas with diced onion in them (so good) w/a platter of frijoles w/salsa and cheese melted for tort chips, fajitas or carne asada w/the usual mexican sides, chilaquila (sp?-similar to enchiladas but stovetop with cut up corn torts/chicken/onion/red sauce/cheese. Also love Italian, so easy to layer ingredients of sauce/cheese and ricotta until bubbly and brown on top. BBQ chicken salad, chef salad, antipasto. Saucy brown or mushroom gravies with beef or white cream sauces with chicken. My husband has a going away party to go to tonight, so no cooking for me woo hoo! I'm not a big fan of cooking!
Probably szechuan beef stir-fry. I love the smell of the ginger...
I also really love for us to have smoked chicken chili, but I am not in love with actually MAKING it. Chopping the onions and poblanos always makes my eyes burn....
My hubby is a big cook. We both cook, so it's great; when we have friends over for dinner, he cooks the main, and I do desserts.
I like to make homemade pasta. My family also loves my enchiladas and Mexican rice. But you are right, there is something really comforting about enchiladas. They are one of my hubby's favs!
I cook lots of things. I'm always trying new things. My husband also likes to cook once or twice a week and he prefers to make the same things all the time and experiment and perfect his specialties. His current specialties are chow mein and fried rice (no he's not chinese).
Nice to see a man who likes to cook - bless your heart. My husband is a Grill Master and makes a mean breakfast, but anything cooked in the kitchen just confuses him. I LOVE to cook as I'm sure you can see from my screen name.
Saturday night, we're having a few friends over and I'm making Greek food (first time I'm doing this for company). Marinated & grilled chicken kabobs, ground lamb patties, pita bread, tzatziki (greek cucumber/yogurt sauce), hummus, tomato/cucumber/feta/dill salad with olive oil & roasted lemon potatoes - I make everything from scratch except the pita bread. Yum!
I don't have recipes - never have. I learned to cook by watching my parents and then by trial and error on my own. I hate to bake anything involving measuring. I did whip up a cheesecake last weekend without a recipe and it was actually pretty good, but I don't know if I could do that again.
