Yeast Infection @ 6 Weeks

I know this is the area women don't like to talk about but, I am 6 weeks pregnant with my second child and I am sure I have a yeast infection. I had one early in my first pregnancy but, didn't know it. The doctor found it when she did my exam, so she had me treat it with monistat. Anyway, my question is my appointment is not for 2 more weeks, and I don't think I can wait that long, should I go ahead and start to treat it and call them on monday or wait until monday call and see what they say. By the way this is a new doctor I have never seen before (I just moved back to pittsburgh at the beginning of september)I talked to the pharmacist and he wasn't really any help. Thanks ahead of time for any advice.

What can I do next?

Oh K.. How terrible for you. Your doctor has to have an on call doc ready to answer questions just like yours. Call the number and if the answering service doesn't pick up, there should be a message with the number to call. Good Luck!

Hi K.,
Welcome back to The 'Burgh!
I agree with Amanda--call your doctor (OB/gyn OR family practitioner) and have the on-call or answering service have someone get back to you. Depending on your insurance, you might have a service like "Blues on Call" which is 24/7 nurse line to speak with. Look on your coverage card. Good luck!

Another option is to go to Med Express (google them for locations). It is a "doc in the box" chain and there is someone there 8am-9pm who could see you> They'd probably want to do a pelvic, but if you can't get a hold of your doctor you could try that.

If you just awant to "limp along" until monday, eat lots of yogurt and, er, apply some to the affected areas. Won't hurt, might help.
