Okay this one is quite gross but I have never experienced this before. I went in for my annual a few weeks ago and he said it looked a little yeasty so he prescribed a cream. I knew I was going to start my cycle the next week so I wanted to wait until I was done with that and then start the treatment. Its only a 3 day treatment. So that comes goes and I did my third treatment last night and I woke up to bloody discharge. Not just pink tinged discharge it was red blood. With it being Sunday I dont know if this is something I need to call and leave a message for or it it just happens to some people? I did go to the bathroom again and there was some residual blood when I wiped but it wasn't as bad as the first time this morning.
Don't think the doc needs to know any of this information. It's not something of a medical need. You're fine. The cycle just ended and the med was cleaning out the area.
I'd wait a couple of days to see what happens. My first thought was that you either scratched yourself applying the cream or your vagina is raw from the infection. Give it a couple of days to heal. If the spotting continues then a call to the doc wouldn't hurt.
By the way. I am a Shaklee gal. For people who easily get yeast infections a good probiotic on a regular basis could really help. I take my own brand daily, but yogurt is a good source too. You might consider something like that.
Take an epson salt bath to "clean out" down there, and then see what's going on when you wipe. You may have broken the skin when applying the cream or itching the area. I had a yeast infection for 7 weeks last year, and that happened to me. Eat lots of plain yogurt, and if you still see symptoms in a couple days, call the doctor. They can also prescribe a pill called diflucan, which helps tremendously when you can't get rid of one with the cream.
If you battle one again, don't hesitate to apply the cream at the onset so it can do it's job quickly! I've used them through a cycle and it's fine. Feel better!
I doubt the blood is related to the yeast treatment. I think you will stop bleeding tomorrow and you will be fine.
I would read the info that came with the cream to see if this is listed as a possible side effect, or if it's mentioned as a reason to inform your doctor. If you threw away the paper, usually this same information is listed online if you google the name of the cream.
I've not heard of this type of reaction to a yeast infection treatment cream.
Also, have you had yeast infections before? If I truly had a yeast infection (and not just "a little yeasty") I wouldn't have been able to wait over a week to use the treatment, I would've used it before leaving the clinic, it is so uncomfortable!
Call your doctor - someone is always on call on the weekends. If not your doctor, then his colleague or even someone from another practice who shares call duties, or a nurse/nurse practitioner. I don' think you need to go to the ER, but just leaving a message doesn't seem helpful. If you don't need to talk to someone, call Monday. If you'd feel better talking to someone, make the call and tell the answering service that you have some unusual bleeding. Also keep tabs on how much blood you have. For that reason, I would wear a pad (not to mention an tampon isn't a great idea when you have yeast.
It doesn't sound like residual blood from your period if it's bright red, but you could be that irritated, either from the yeast or possibly from a reaction to the cream.
