Yeast Infection/diaper Rash - Santa Ana,CA

My daughter had that and they prescribed the exact same creme for her...except it worked. If it were me, I would call the doctor. Our pediatrician has like a nurses advice line and you can tell them what's going on and they can call you in another prescription. Besides the prescription creme I've only used Desitin but that's not for a yeast infection...I don't think? Everyones body is different, something that works for one person might not work for the next. I doubt something over-the-counter would work when the prescription didn't. But I would most definitely ask the doctor before using anything else! Good luck!!! :0)

My granddaughter had yeast infection on her bottom at age 10 mo. She was prescribed the same medication and it worked beautifully. Makes me wonder if your daughter really has yeast infection or if it's something else. You should definitely check back with her doctor.

If it's yeast you HAVE to remove all sugar from your diet...all of it, including white bread, crackers, white rice,etc. Yeast breeds and sugar simply feeds it. It has to be killed and that means starving it to death. The question is do you have yeast. It doesn't simply show itself vaginally like a lot of women think. If it's showing there then your entire body is eaten up with it and it really takes months to get rid of. Look at your tongue (like you would a baby with thrush) and see if it is pink and healthy or if it has a whitish coating on it. If it's there, then you have it and are passing it along.

This is systemic and coming from the inside out. You can add probiotics to his routine in a bottle of water. I keep one around the house called Florify which is safe for little ones. You can go to the health store and ask them as well. If it's on his bottom (and it is indeed yeast) he's eaten up with it and it will take some work.

are they SURE its a yeast infection? my son had a purplish colored one that was from allergies from what i was eating. perhaps change type of diapers to cloth for awhile when you need them, if it traps moisture it grows.
i'd let my baby go diaper free for like 4 hrs at a time and keep him on a waterproof mat under a blanket or whatever. that's what worked the best for us. and honestly after pee i don't think i used water everytime since urine is basically sterile. we typically only used wipes w/poop cuz of sensitive skin.

Our Pediatrician, recommended a yeast cream (over the counter) that contains "Clotrimazole" in it.
There is a 3-day or 7-day treatment choice.
Yep, it did work for my kids.

ALSO, if you are nursing, there is also an oral Thrush... which is a yeast infection too. And if a baby gets Thrush, then the Mom also has to get treated, at the same time, applying ointment to her nipples.
Just as an aside FYI.

Yeast infections, on the bottom area, can take time to go away completely. It can be stubborn.
But KEEP applying the yeast cream.
With Nystatin... this is an antibiotic prescription cream for fungal infections. Sometimes though, an infection will not respond to it or the infection will build up resistance to it.
There are also many different kinds of fungal infections.

I would try, just a regular ol' over the counter yeast cream. With Clotrimazole in it.
That did the trick for my kids, as babies, every time.

Have you tried changing his brand of diapers? I would try that. Sometimes, when babies are that young, their skin is just so sensitive. At my baby shower I wasn't sure which brand of diapers I was going to use, I guess you're supposed to decide that ( ha ha ) and I had received pampers and huggies. When I used, all of the pampers and used the huggies my son had such a reaction, that now all i can use is pampers. I know diaper rash isn't the same, but I would try switching diapers, and using the prescription of course. Let me know!

Cut out the sugar... Completely, if you can, for awhile.

I went through the same thing. Start taking Probiotics (acidophilus)! And put the childrens form in his milk if you can get him to take a bottle of your breast milk! It's very natural!

I recently took my daughter to her doctor with a really bad rash that turned out to be a yeast infection. The doctor proscribed Nystatin and she was allergic to it. It was eating up her skin and made her bleed and I only put in on her for one day. So in that case it only works well for certain people. Some people have a more sensitive out come to certain lotions or any other type of medication.

sugar is the main culprit but he is too young for it and probably not getting any. so my second thought is are you breast feeding if so cut your sugar out. I used arbonne diaper rash ointment and it worked like a charm on my son and no I dont sell it. guess I should as much as I suggest it. I could make a fortune off of it as much as I suggest it. if you are not breastfeeding and he is on formula my guess would be an allergy to his formula he may need soy formula that is what I had to do to get my oldest sons yeast infecitons to go away. it didnt work with my youngest.

try a vinegar bath and go to hypoallergenic wipes and diapers. it may be the brand of diaper you are using too. is the nystatin just topical if so he may need oral and topical at the same time which also didnt work on my youngest. now if your breast feeding increase your protien and all pasta is whole grain and so is bread and cut out the juices. you need to post if your breast feeding or not for a better direction and answer that will make a diffrence on how we answer you.

you may need to get a filter on your bath..i have one on the shower and u can make a bath from the shower..also try Baby Jarro-dophilus..u can get it at wholefoods..if he is strictly breast fed..then put some on your nipple when he nurses..if you also give him a bottle u can put it in that..you may have to change something in your diet..lay low on dairy..and eat plain foods..perhaps google what you should eat..also maybe some of the moms on kellymom.com will know..its a website for moms who are breast feeding.

What worked for us was a "trio" that a nurse friend did. Alternate between clortrimazole (OTC antifungal), Desitin, hydrocortizone cream (sparingly), using a different one at each diaper change. Knocked out awful diaper rash in a couple of days.

My little boy had a bad diaper rash when he was a newborn. Nothing the doctor told me to do worked. A friend of mine told me to try Zinc Oxide. It's the main ingredient in diaper rash creams, but without the fragrance. I found it at Target, behind the pharmacy counter (just ask for it). It costs about $2. It worked great, and super fast. After a month suffering from yeast/diaper rash, he was finally cured. Give it a try. Good luck!
