I didn't know how to word this...but I want to laminate a piece of paper (curious george pic in black and white) and put it in a party favor pack with dry erase markers or crayons, etc. What writing object can I buy that is safe for toddlers and will wipe of the laminated page?

What can I do next?

vis a vis markers but they will be messy...that is the only thing i know of that will write on laminate and come off....or grease pencil, if you can find colored ones. it will wipe off with a bit of elbow grease and a clean paper towel. and if it stains use WD-40

Hi J.,

Dry erase markers do come in the washable variety. The non-washable type can turn clothes into rags very quickly. They also make special wipe-off crayons, but they are hard to find. The washable crayola crayons come off laminated sheets with a little water. Clean up is really easy.

Target has those wipe-off books that you can buy the wipe-off markers to write on them with. Those work great! My 3 year old has them. Several colors.

I am not sure that there are toddler safe dry erase or wet erase markers. The best wet erase markers are vis-a-vis. Be careful when you buy dry erase, only some of them work, some don't show up or show up very lightly on the surface you write on. Hope that helps.

At my house we us washable crayons and markers that are non -toxic just incase my 8mth old gets ahold of my 5 yr olds things. You can also use clear contact paper to "laminate" pages. It is 1/3 the price but you do need to take a little more time than the laminate sheets or machines. It also has a "frosted" look rather than slick. It is still very readable and ir seems to still be doing good for me for 5 years on some of the same old pages that she won't let me get rid of.

I hope this helps.

J.,

the only thing I could think of too, is dry erase markers.....what about the crayola washable markers? also, didn't crayola come out with some special kind of wash-off crayon....it's not like a regular crayon that is wax and covered with paper....i'm not really sure?!?!?

Try calling Michael's store or AC Moore store or even one of those teacher type stores....we have one here in Raleigh called "Teach Me".....it is a great resource for parents!

Good Luck,
Pam
ps...I was also thinking that I wish I had a creative friend like you here in Raleigh to help me with this kind of stuff! You sound great at thinking of fun kid things...I'm not creative at all!!!!

I have some "twistable, slick stick" crayons. I dont know if they would work on the laminate. They are really easy for younger kids to use, and since they twist they cant break them, or eat them in my case :-)

Oh, and for all those who want to get together and scrapbook count me in. I need some "grown up mommy time!"

dry erase markers work best. You can pick up a child pack at wal-mart. We use the same idea for my son to write his name. it works well and comes off easy. Too it cleans up well off the kids.
