Can folks recommend a good - large - erasable drawing pad or board for a three year old boy?

I am looking for one in particular that does not have a toxic applicator.

Thanks for any ideas.

best,
P., single Dad

I second the dry erase board. The markers come in an array of colors too. HOURS of entertainment!

I got, a "Dry Erase" erasable board, the kind that you would find in an office or school.
It is white.
Ours is about 2' x 2' or a tad larger. (these boards comes in all sizes).

Just go to an Office Depot or Costco.
They have these dry-erase boards.
That's where I got mine.

Or just do a search for "dry erase boards' on Amazon, and you will see what it looks like. And for "dry erase markers' and you will see the many types/brands they have and if it is non-toxic.
But it usually is.

Plus with the 'dry-erase' pens or markers, that comes with it.
Or, any 'washable' Crayola markers, will work on these boards too.
You just wipe it off with a very damp paper towel. Or a dry paper towel.
My kids like these.
And it is good quality.

Most of these, do have non-toxic erasable marker pens.

Be careful....Dry Erase Markers are NOT washable....and they stain clothing AND furniture. Learned that lesson the hard way!

What about a magna-doodle? They are great. Our kids loved them forever and they are great for in the car as well.

Both our kids also used them to practice their letters when they were learning to read (age 3 1/2).

If you want the board alone, usually dollar stores have those. I like those for traveling and taking on the go. If you want one with a stand, Ikea has standing wooden easels with a dry erase on one side and a chalkboard on the other side, plus a bar to hold a roll of paper for painting, and a tray built in for supplies. They are only about 20 bucks there, you won't find them cheaper anywhere else.($50-100 every where else!) My daughter loves hers, we have had it for years. And I second the non-toxic washable crayola markers. We use a regular old-fashioned chalk board eraser to wipe the marker off.

Some of the art supplies sections of Fred Meyer have larger drawing pads that will hold up to erasing. Columbia Art Supply on 20th and East Burnside might also have pads of decent-quality paper for a better price. I find the smell of the dry erase markers very, very strong, personally. Paper is fun and he can learn how to use a pencil and eraser together. And..they're portable and won't be wrecked if he takes a crayon to it.

Erasable can mean a lot of things... I'm old school and prefer the paper and pens, pencils, crayons.

Oh, and Scott makes a large white-board easel and pads to fit/clip into it. We use the easel and paper with my preschool group. You might be able to find some less-pungent markers, or use it outside on clear days. We love taking our big easel outside for group projects!
