My problem is that I am a stay at home mom, my son shawn is 2, and I love being home with him. I have always been at home, or worked at home and this time I have been given an opportunity to work from home yet again, only its from 4:45pm to midnight. I have worked this shift before, but my son is older now, and we have created our own bed time. Its the only thing everyday I make a point to stick to just in case the rest of the day is chaotic, we always have this bed time thing we do every night. First is clean up, bath, milk, book (read twice), cream (ezma), bankie, kisses, bed. Its like an hour long thing, and sometimes after dinner we play on the bed together. I dont want to pass up the chance to work again from home, but I feel like I would be missing out. I am torn on weither or not to go through with this job, I could use the money, but dont want to loose out on bed time with my son....

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I think what I am going to do is on monday-thursday I work 4:45-11:45 so I will do bed time stuff at nap time and on the days I have off I will do bed time stuff at bedtime and nap time. To make up for all the night times I missed durring the week. lol. My husband is a moron, but after I make the list for him he will do bedtime the way he can do it and hopefully wont forget to brush his teeth. Thanks so much for all the advice, love having you ladies around for times like this when I am not sure what to do, Love T.

Hi T.,

I don't have any solid advice for you; however, I think you can create rituals during the day. I was interested in what type of work you do from home since I am really looking for something like that. Good luck with your delimmea and I would appreciate any advice you may have. Thank you in advance.

Hi T. - Could you take a break/dinner hour at your son's bedtime to continue your routine? If not, I really liked some of the other moms replies about starting a routine in the morning or at nap time. Working from home is something most people never get to do, but so many would like to! Especially with the economy the way it is right now this type of opportunity is awesome! You have to wiegh the pros & cons for yourself though so you are happy in the end with whatever your decision is - best of luck in deciding!

Could you change your routine to a wake up routine? Maybe when you both wake up you can read a book, play on the bed then eat breakfast together? And your husband, could he do the bath and bedtime at night? My husband puts our kids to bed, it is his thing because he is gone all day and it gives him that special moment with the kids. Also, does your 2 year old take a nap? Maybe you can transfer some of your routine to a nap routine and make that special.

I know it is so hard. But you are not talking about being gone 9 - 6 and Shawn being in childcare. If you can before you start your job start a few new routines. That way when you change the nighttime routine it won't matter too much because he will be enjoying the other routines. Hope this helps!

Hi T.- sounds like you have a stressful schedule. I would recommend checking out this blog

http://blog.greensherpa.com/index.php/tips-and-tricks/a-s...

It's written by a working mom and she shares some of her struggles with the work/family balance. This particular post is about entertaining the kids without overexerting yourself, so I think it could pertain to your question.

I'd love to hear what you decide...I think the morning or naptime ritual sounds great and have daddy do the nightime thing. It's not what we think though, how does that sound to you and your husband? Does your husband come home in time to take care of your son from 4:45 on? I know tons of mom's who would love to work from home, what do you do?

Hi T.,

Those are some crazy hours to work, I have three children and I stay at home and work with them by my side. The differnce is I set my own hours, I don't sell anything, there is no inventory, I get a free website, free training, unlimited free support. Again best of NO SELLING! LOL
I love this, just refer customers, no telemarketing either.
I feel so bad, b/c those are the hours where family time matters most. I wish you the best of luck!

Hi T.,
i have been a stay at home mom for a little more than 7 years. My son turned 7 in march and my daughter turned 5 in dec. The whole time that i was staying home in the beginning was fine till they got to be like 3 and 1 , when i sent michael to preschool, and i still had gianna home with me. I became a mary kay consultant , it is a very easy job to do , i started doing parties in the beginning, but basically just get a nice customer base going and the parties you really dont have to do. Get your books and cards out, and thats how you start a nice base. I also sell partylite candles and assesories,, another awesome part time job, no inventories, no deliveries.. If you want more info ,, go to my websites
www.marykay.com/tcharnisky1 and www.partylite.biz/tcharnisky .let me know if you want any info.
Good luck in all you do.. Best of all enjoy and love that baby.. It goes too fast
