What's your question? Did hubby promise all those things and is not living up to it? If you are working to get out of the house & you don't like the job & the promises are not being met & daycare is so expensive, oh and don't forget you are working every weekend, then quit working! Doesn't sound like a deal to me either.

The bottom line is you cannot be in two places at once, and imho you cannot serve two "masters."

Every time I get the urge to go back to work I read posts like yours and remind myself that I do not have the energy or time to do it all, at least not the way I want to do it. So - thank you.

If you're not doing it to put food on the table and/or a roof over your kids' heads then you may want to re-think your priorities. JMO . . .

Good luck to you!

I think that's pretty easy! If you aren't in need of the money to pay the bills and your job barely covers daycare... QUIT!

If you do it only for some adult interaction, just find something different. You could volunteer, join a mom's group (or start your own), find a coop preschool if you kids are preschool age for some time off and some community involvement. There are plenty of ways to get adult interaction outside of a job...that what I would do if I didn't have to work to put food on the table...

Good luck!

Did you have those "promises" in writing?
Is there an employee probationary period, before you get those things?
Document everything.....
if it is in writing per your employment contract, they are legally bound to do that.

If you don't need the job or for money... then perhaps find something else....

yes, daycare is expensive....

See what your priority is... for this job, or staying home or finding something else.

Welcome to the world of working motherhood! You have to learn to juggle what's important for what's more important.

In short, "something's gotta give." You cannot be out of the home and expect the home to run smoothly on it's own. I work minimally (I'm out one day a week and a half day at that) and do many of my work tasks at home. And I cook EVERYTHING we eat (ketchup, mustard, bread, beverages, all three meals). And I homeschool. So what gives? Housework, since that's what I least like! I do have the kids help me keep house and as they get older that's helped immensely, though it takes teaching them early on and keeping at it to see fruits of those labors. You need to really sit down and consider your priorities. That is not a judgment but a true suggestion. What is important to you and how can you keep those things going well? There is no right or wrong answer there.

You should also look at what it costs you to work:
clothing
gas and car maintenance
childcare
food bought out and convenience products
stress
You might be surprised to see how much you actually take home after all those costs and how much goes to taxes after that! Read Miserly Moms by Joni McCoy to help you figure that out.

I applaud working moms who can keep it all balanced. I don't know how they do it!
