I wanted to get opinions on anyone who is a stay at home mom and went back to work or is wanting to go back to work, either for a career or to supliment the family income. I'd like to get into the workforce again, and am interested in what has worked for other moms. Anyone ever tried a temp service?

thanks

Hi L.! I know how hard it is to make the decision to go back to work. For me part time jobs have always been the best choice. It gives us the little extra we need and I'm at home with the kids. It's hard to work late at night but right now I have the pefect job working from home so I sit in my office while DH gets the kiddos to sleep and then I'm here all night :)

Hope you find something that works!

Hey L.
I wanted to ask you some questions about your going back to work. First of all do you have small children at home? As im sure you have thought of this, but will you be making enough money to cover your childcare & gas expenses? So will your entry into the workforce be to your advantage? Do you need to go to work to supplement your income or ready to get out of the house? I was wondering cuz I work from home. There may be some other possible solutions.

Hi L.,
I worked for a temp service. (in the office) A temp service can offer you lots of experence in different areas. Most the time the jobs are temp to hire.
However I would consider what the post below said about working from home.
Good luck

I worked while my children were growing up and wish I knew then, what I know now. Getting back into the traditional workforce has too many negatives. Have you thought about the positives with working at home? They are not all scams and I have proof of that - I work from home. I am also building a wonderful prosperous future for me and my family while working a home. How? It's not as difficult, stressful and time consuming as working away from home and there's no communite nor is there someone else dictating my schedule. If you're interested contact me at ____@____.com or by phone at 877-736-7630 or ###-###-####. I'm not available between 11:00am and 4:00pm CST; that's when I'm working the JOB.

Best wishes,
W.

Hi L., I saw your request about working from home. I wanted to let you know I also had the same problem. I wanted to work in order to have extra income and be able to stay with my children when they are sick. I found a company that allows me to work from home and set my own hours and be with my kids more.

Hey L.! I worked with a temp service after I first had my little girl. Tempstaff is who I went through and they were great. The only problem I ever ran into was that they didn't always have part-time oppurtunities available. However, now I am in business for myself from home. It is a great oppurtunity but it can take a little while to show enough income to be able to stay at home full-time. I love what I do now and I would love to tell you more about it. If you are interested e-mail me, ____@____.com

Thanks!

I went back to work when my son was two. I got a part time job and it was great at first. Then I got on the night shift and was missing my family. My husband works during the day so we never had anytime together. I worked for 6 months. I quit the day my son looked at me and said mommy please don't go I miss you. So, that was it for me. I guess I am not cut out for the workforce unless I could work at home but there is not much out there that will allow you to do that. Or I haven't found much.

L.,

I supplement my family's income by doing work from the house. It allows me the flexibility to schedule around my children's activities and allows me the chance to get out of the house without kids. Actually, I had a party last night in my home with my kids and two other's children as well. Informal and fun. I spend about 3-4 hours per show and that includes phone calling and mailing stuff so the pay is pretty good...about $25 or so an hour which I make the night I close my party. Not including all the fabulous people I meet and the opportunity for a paid vacation either. I have done this for 9 years now and am DEGREED...but, with kids this just works for me! ;-)
