I'm a single mother of two kids that have disabilities, and I am wondering if any one know of any legitimate work from home jobs I can do with out having to pay up front?
If you want to go freelance, remember that you will pay your own taxes.
Some legit sites include hiremymom.com (you pay for access to posts, but not for jobs), odesk.com and biztant.com. You have to work your own contracts and make sure they are legit, but I've gotten work from HireMyMom (including my current job).

There are very few work from home jobs on the internet, and those that you do find, pay very little as well. I would encourage you to find a home business, you will have to something, with mine, it is only $29, but the information is free and you make an informed decision before paying anything. Nope. most are scams and recruiters to sign you up to get rich quick. BEWARE
Also, if you start doing your own thing, make sure you have a good business model and CPA. You have to pay taxes.
We run our company from home. I pay $2600/month to the IRS. Just know what you are doing and know you are doing it correctly before you jump in!!
