Go through your home and start listing things on ebay and craigslist for sale. You will be surprised at what you do not NEED to get by...and make money off the things you thought you needed...
I am a recruiter. I can work on contracts - most of my contracts are government contracts and since the government still can't get a budget together - government contractors have held back on hiring...that being said - when it's up and running - I make good money working from home. I have a dedicated phone line, fax machine and computer.
There are MANY jobs out there...you just have to THINK before you act. There are companies that are hiring for customer service representatives...USAA, Deer Park Bottling Company and several others.
I cannot reiterate enough when working from home you are WORKING - so you can't have the kids (babies, toddlers) around - with things like ebay and craigslist - it doesn't matter but the other jobs it does.
There are plenty of companies hiring for seasonal help right now - UPS, FEDEX and USPS...if you are looking for something temporary to get extra money in the door.
I don't know what you do or what skills you have. So it makes it hard to truly answer your question.
