Just when I think society can't get any worse....something comes up and gives me hope!!!

I would hope that if either one of my son's got nominated for Homecoming King, they would do something selfless like these boys did!!

YAHOO!!!

There are times when I know my boy's would...then...other times?!?!? ooh my word!!! So - what's your take on this?

What can I do next?

Thanks ladies!! I loved the positive responses!! I am sorry that some people needed to throw a wrench in it and state what they should have done! Instead of just being happy they did something right!! I'm glad that so many of you saw the good in this as well!!

I read this and loved..
I have said this before, walk into any public school any day and there really are good things happening..

Kids overall are good.. It is the poor behaviors that always seem to get all of the attention..

I just read that article on facebook, brought TEARS to my eyes!!!!

If I were the mother or father of one of those boys, I think I'd be hard pressed to ever find a prouder moment!!!!

When I was in high school, there were the usual "crowd" of popular people. Most of the girls were just awful. Snobby, mean, just nasty people. When I got to prom I wasn't surprised to see a few of their names on the ballot. However, the name of a girl who had been picked on, teased etc....was also on the ballot. She was at the prom surprisingly to me, and seemed very oblivious that this was obviously a joke.
Well, I voted for her, So did most of my friends.....and she WON. She genuinely did not realize some jerky kids were still just trying to make fun of her. The look on those other girls' faces were priceless. They were FURIOUS! Serves them all right.
The best part for me was that she didn't realize they were being cruel. She was so happy! Her parents were there snapping pictures and crying. So the outcome was good, just not good intentioned,
THIS story was absolutely beautiful! I love it! And I wish we all had the parenting skills these kids parents had that produced such kind TEENAGERS! What a concept, kind and compassionate TEENAGERS!!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE :)

I think it's fantastic! Those kids were taught empathy. I wondered how many high schools in this country have kids with empathy. I seriously doubt that that would have happened at MOST of our high schools. Sad, but, IMHO, true. Kudos to the parents and teachers at that school!

Yes, there are still wonderful people left in this world. Sometimes it does not seem that way. That made me smile.

It's a feel good moment, the only thing that could have made it better was if they actually got the school to nominate and vote for him vs give him their crown. In the picture the Queen even looks happy to be standing there with him as her King.

Hi, W.:
That's nice.
It takes more than giving a crown to a teen-ager to change
the sad state our country is in right now.
I wonder how many mom's on this social network goes to
classes to learn about the constitution?
I wonder how many mom's on this social network goes to City Council and
School Board meetings and give feedback to them.
I wonder how many mom's hold people accountable for their lack of doing their job right at City Hall.
Just wondering.

Oh wow, I posted almost the exact same thing on my FB status this morning; a link to the article and "Stories like this give me hope that our society is not completely in the crapper".

I think these young men are wonderful examples for their peers!

Yeah...nice.
They threw him a bone & God love him, the kid was happy.

I think it would have been nicer if they down have to "agree to give it to him, no matter who 'won'" it would have been better had he been nominated the. Voted HK, right?

This was sweet of them, yet I could have been more meaningful if Scotty, considering all of the kind words everyone had to say about him had bagged him an actual nomination--not a token gift.
