Hi Emily, my 16 month old has this really wierd rash behind her left knee. It looks like Iodine. It is not raised, not scaley, nothing. Just colored like Iodine. She does not act like it bothers her at all. Her Dr. said he had not seen anything like it before. He gave her an all-purpose cream to try. It is working, but I am still wondering what it is??? Had anyone ever seen anything like this before?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, the Dr. still has no idea what it is, but it seems to have almost gone away! If it comes back the first thing I am going to do is take her to a dermatologist. Hopefully it won't for her sake and because I don't believe there are any that take medicaid. I think there may be 1 in Evansville but I am not sure? I will look into it more if the time comes. Thanks for all your advice!

Without actually seeing it I can't say if it is the same thing or not, but I get what looks sort of like an iodine stain behind my knees when I have been wearing shorts. It seems to be from my skin touching. I use a coco butter and shea butter cream to coat it and it goes away with nop further treatment. Regular lotion doesn't work as well because it absorbs into the skin too much.
I also use the coco butter- shea butter cream as a preventive (when I remember) And that seems to keep the rash or whatever it is away.
Hope this helps.

it could be dermatitis...maybe you've changed laundry detergents or soaps and it's irritating her skin. if the doc doesn't know for sure, then you might taker her to a dermatologist.

Dr. Keith Danckert in Ft. Wayne is also really great. I went to two ER's before he realized I had severe eczema.

Hi S.,
To ease your mind, you may want to consider taking her to a dermatologist and have them check it this mystery rash she has...I think they would know more about it than a regular doctor would...If you are around the Goshen area, Dr. Federspiel is wonderful..look him up and good luck Mama!
