Wicked Witch Costume

HI Moms,
My 2 1/2 year old is very sure she wants to be a "bad witch" for Halloween. Now that all the catalogs are arriving in the mail, she shows me pictures of the ugliest, scariest witches and says that's what she wants. When I ask if she wants to be a "good witch" or "pretty witch" she says, "Nope, a bad witch with a green face". (This is surprising because otherwise she's into pink and yellow clothes with cupcakes on them.) She favors the witch from the Wizard of Oz. Naturally, most children's costumes are not this scary looking. I have tried suggesting other things for her to dress as and the only other one she is willing to consider is Dorothy (we have an OZ theme going here) so I may buy a Dorothy costume just in case the witch proves to be too scary once it's actually in front of her. We have looked online together for costumes and she rejects all the pretty witch costumes. Does anyone know where I can get a child's size 4-6 (she wears a 3-4T) good quality scary witch costume? I really LOVE Halloween and I don't mind spending more money for the really snazzy costumes. Thanks for all your help

So What Happened?

Even though it is only September, I found a witch costume at the Children's Place and I figured it was worth a try. My daughter loved it because it had green in the design and she said she wants a green face and this dress, so I think I have this problem solved...as long as she doesn't change her mind in the next month and a half!

Dear G.,
Don't worry about your daughter because my now 17 year old daughter always wanted to be some scary, gross looking monstser on Halloween. I tried my best to talk her into a princess costume or just something cute, I even made her be Belle from Beauty and the Beast one year. When I saw how unhappy she was that year I vowed to let her be what she wanted from then on. She will grow out of it and it definitely doesn't affect who they become later because my daughter is the average teenage girl now (all about clothes and boys). Part City has every costume you could imagine and the sizes run from infants to adults so I'm sure you can find what you're looking for and they have great accessories also. There is one right by Burlington Coat Factory in Lansing if that's close to you. Good Luck!

my daughter has had the same snow white costume for the last 4 years or so. she is now 6......originally i had to hem it up about 6 inches or so and every year i just let it out a little. alot of the costumes are like that so you might be able to buy a bigger size and then alter the length to fit her. good luck

Depending on where you live, it is always cold on halloween. So your best bet is probably make it yourself. If you go to a store like Michaels? then you can probably get face paint, a wig, hat, broom and she can pick out of different things to make it a gross/scary as she likes. That way you are not stick with someones made up set. You can probably put her in any balck warm thing, or just find a black witch dress easy. It's those details that usually make the costume special. This way she can choose the details herself.

They have a childrens line & I found this one from their Wizard of Oz line of costumes: http://www.kidscostumesandmore.com/costumes/wicked-witch-... . I'm not sure if they stock this particular one at the store, or just on-line, but you could call so you might be able to see it before you buy it.
Happy Halloween,
