My little five year old little girl has just started this week wanting to "teetee/pee-pee" all the time. It started Monday and goes so much that Nana brought it up yesterday when she was at her house all day AND today the teacher said something about it. Her urine does not smell and the color looks "normal". What could be causing this? Any information would be helpful...thanks!!!

What can I do next?

Diabetes can cause this too. Is she really thirsty? I would take her to the doctor.

It was like this for me and they never found anything wrong, even when I had a kidney biopsy when I was 11. I was practically a pro at peeing in the cup every time I saw the pediatrician. Didn't have this problem so much after my soda intake was limited for a while and ended up being fine in general (might've helped if I weren't such a grape juice lover as well as a soda addict).

Could be a UTI or something, or maybe she's like me. At any rate, take her to the doctor to make sure nothing's wrong. It might just be a phase of not being able to sit there long enough to get it all out.

Sometimes this can happen from stress (e.g. changes in schedule etc). It could also be an infection. Viral infections sometimes cause increases in urine production, but don't have pain associated with it. I hope things get better soon.

Hey -
Has she had a major change in her life lately? When my son started pre-school, he behaved like this. He wanted to go ALL the time. I took him to the doctor and they tested for an infection, which he did not have. So, I started locking the bathroom door. At first, I made him wait 20 minutes between times to go to the bathroom (he wasn't going every time anyway, just going and trying). I stretched the time out and he eventually figured out that he really didn't need to go. But, I think it was just anxiety because of the change of going to school.

Good luck!

OMG! I went through this all with my daughter at that age. Multiple doctors, tests, stress, worry, frustration!!! All of the above. I just feel so sorry for other moms just starting out on this path...

Get her to a doctor. Have them rule out Diabities, and a UTI. Those are both very serious issues that must be dealt with.

It could just be a phase she is going through where she doesnt take the time to let it all get out...but you need to have it checked out to be sure.
