Hi ladies. . .I am 4 months pregnnant and this pregnancey it seems like my checks(on my face) are always pink and someimes blotchy? Any suggestions or comments Why?

it sounds like rosacea, though i'm not sure based on that little bit of info. if you're white (especially fair skinned) it is a common skin disorder and the hormonal changes in pregnancy can certainly trigger it. you can visit a dermo for a diagnosis, but if it is rosacea it's not dangerous, just a bit of a nuisance. (some severe cases can disfigure the skin especailly around the nose, but that usually only happens in men i think).
Evening primrose oil capsules are pretty helpful in controlling this condition but don't take them until you're close to the end of your pregnancy since they can theoretically cause uterine contractions. you might get the same releif from fish oil or borage oil capsules (not sure but it's worth a try). there is a topical adult acne treatment called clindamycin which is pregnancy safe but your dermo has to rx it. you should avoid the sun, drinking (you are proabbly not overdoing the booze these days anyway), and putting harsh soaps on your face or washing it in really hot water. short of that, if pregnancy brought it on, it's liekly that delivering the baby will make it go away. good luck!
It is the extra estrogen in your system. Talk to your dr about it and she should be able to give you a cream to help....I got it really bad on the side of my nose. Good luck
It's because you are carrying around a LOT of extra blood for your baby. That is also why some women get nosebleeds and bloody gums when they brush thier teeth. Your internal fluids have increased to compensate for an extra little very demanding person growing in your body. :)
I had something similar around my 3rd month with my daughter. Mine was on my face and arms and neck. It went away about a month later. The Dr. just said it was because my skin was sensitive especially while pregnant. Hopefully it will go away for you too. I would definately mention it to your Dr. next time.
I agree with the increased blood volume comment. If it's not bumps, and just the coloring, than most likely it's just a lot of extra blood running through your system. It tends to come out in some places more than others. As the last responder said, that's why pregnant women get nose bleeds more often, and find their tooth brushes pink from blood. If you're worried about it, ask the advice nurse at your doctors office, or mention it to your OB on your next check up. Good luck. (P.S. That's how some women get their "pregnancy glow" is with blushed cheeks)
Hi D.,
My daughter's middle name is D.. :)
One thing that it could be (though I hope not) is that you may have started having rosacea symptoms...pregnancy can exacerbate it due to all the hormonal and even temperature changes in our bodies. I'd check with a dermatologist who is experienced in dealing with rosacea and see what their opinion is. I have it myself which is why I thought of this - it can be annoying but at least it's not lifethreatening. :)
Best of luck to you and God bless your family!
