My daughter had a a similar assignment she wrote about Wilma Rudolph. She overcame polio to become the first American woman to win 3 Olympic gold medals.
If your daughter was given an assignment at school (4th grade) to write about someone special, who do you think she would pick?
My daughter had a a similar assignment she wrote about Wilma Rudolph. She overcame polio to become the first American woman to win 3 Olympic gold medals.
My son wrote a speech about his little brother in grade three. That speech got him third place at divisionals for public speaking.
Probably one of the dogs.
:)
In the past, she has chosen...
Famous? Jane Goodall.
Family? Me.
well, my daughter is now 27....who would she write about now? maybe her paternal grandfather....he's a retired professor from University of Pennsylvania...
my boys?
My oldest would write about Reagan. That's who he chose in the 4th grade...he had pictures from when he attended Reagan's funeral procession here in DC.

Our dog, most likely.
Me.
Or her Dad.
Or her deceased Grandpa.
Our neighbors daughter who is in her twenties and beautiful. She wears all the trendy clothes my daughter likes and stray tens her hair.
Thankfully, she is also a student at a very prestigious university-but I think my daughter would write more about her cool cell phone.
Babysitter, or daddy--never me.
Pa-paw (grandpa) is my DD's favorite person in the world.
After that, probably "uncle" (no true relation, just her dad's closest friend...) K. He's a cop, which is much more interesting than Anything my husband or I do.
My girl is only in 1st but she would pick her little brother.
Anyone she wants to write about. Many different things are interesting to different kids. I'd say she will learn as much as the reader learns from what she writes.
Famous: President Abraham Lincoln and IDK why
Family: me
Even though I do the majority of all home things, soccer things, dinner things, cleaning things, and just THINGS in general....
My boys would probably pick my husband.
Grandma, Grandpa, Daddy. Possibly me, though I think I seem less interesting since I am "around the house" all the time.
Or, their favorite You-tuber that makes videos about Minecraft. That's all I hear about these days. My kids aren't interested in celebrities or musicians but they seem to know all about this Stampy guy.
Her little sister (I just asked her)
Not surprised, she usually thinks of her first :)
Well, I hope my granddaughter would pick her grandmother... but I doubt it... :^)
My fifth grader has been learning about the Holocaust in school and she is very interested in Anne Frank, so I'd guess that for her.
My third grader is a huge history buff and he would absolutely pick someone from the Revolutionary or Civil War time periods.
My first grader is a huge sports fanatic and would do it on either Tom Brady or Peyton Manning.
Of course that's for famous people. We have a very large extended family, so I'm not sure who they would pick for family choices. I'm going to ask them when I get home to see if I was right :).
My oldest - a sports figure. Probably Hines Ward.
My youngest - Jane Goodall
Someone famous? Georgia O'Keefe or Gabbie Douglas
Someone she knows? Maybe Grandma or maybe me or dad
Fictional character? Katara from Avatar or maybe Julie from the American Girl Doll series
